I use to hang out there in the late 40s and early 50s.Annie Jaber ran that place with a iron fist.If we got to loud and you couldn'd hear the juke box she would come back to the booth where you were sitting and tell you to hold it down, and if you didn't quieten down she would tell you to leave, and when you came back you knew to not make a lot of noise. It was a great clean place for teen ager to hang out.

Was this the same Mae Damron that had the little store in Yukon #2 bottom back in the 60s?

Yes, that was my Mother. She passed away in Middleburg, Fla and is buried next to my brother in Interlachen, Fla. I live in Ohio and my sister called from Florida on Thanksgiving Day 1995 to tell us she was dying. Juanita and I flew down and was with her to the end.
My mother always had a store, she had the Army And Navy Store and I think that the War Post Office is located there, she ran the Sweet Shop for the owner, and of course she had 3 or 4 Groc stores. Mother sold door to door coffee. Her Dad was a medicine man and it was called WHIT TONE. I can't find anything on that product but grandpa sure made a lot of people feel good back in 20's, 30's....I use to be with him and love to smell those medicine bottles. I have heard stories of others who tell of medicine men back in early 1900's that sold them a product that would bring them off their sick bed in no time...
Juanita and I married and I got so very sick that I could not get out of bed. Our family Dr was also a friend. He gave me prescription medicine. I was never that sick and have not been since....Juanita grandfather came to visit, he went into our back yard where there was a variety of fruit trees. He cut the bark off and boiled it on the stove. He then gave me a large glass of this mixure and I was up 100% OK and hungry... it worked whatever he mixed. Her grandpa was amazing. He was never in a hospital bed, never saw a Dr...He was 89 and had just chainsaw 5 cords of wood, came in and sit at the kitchen table for a lunch. He sit at the kitchen table, bowing his head and died........89 years old..

I remember the Sweet Shop. I have a lot of good memories of the place in the late 60's. We had so much fun there. It was a great place for socializing and good, safe courting. They had the jukebox and you could dance and just have a lot of fun. My parents didn't think it was a "decent" place to go because a lot of older men hung out there hitting on the young girls, but all they did was flirt. It was a rare thing for one of the young girls to flirt back - unless they needed a quarter for the jukebox! Ha!

The Gibson's ran the Sweet Shop when I went there. My sister, Karen Hagy, worked there for a while. She worked at the Hole-in-Wall for several years also. The Hole-in-the-Wall was my first job. I worked there from age 15 to age 18. Mrs. Gibson worked behind the counter most of the time, but they would occasionally have someone helping her.
