Okay, Jim, do you remember Sadie, Edith, Tiny, and all the beautiful Wright girls? They were sisters to Junior. Sadie lives there still. Tiny lives in the Cove and Edith is in a nursing home. I have a picture of my husband's dad and brothers standing on the steps of the old boardinghouse in Yukon from around 1930 or before. One brother was called Jake but his name was Earnest. He was the father to this family.
Hi Bad Girl,
I am Jake Wright's great niece. My Grandpa was Arthur "Boots" Wright. That is Uncle Jake's brother. I would like to see the picture and any others you might have of cousin Sadie, Tiny or Edith.

I remember the old Movie theater. and Roy Wardens place at the crossroads in Sawyers Pokie...
I remember the Williams family...the Christians, the Bledsoes, the Milinics, the Graham family.
The Fraunties that lived upon the hill...
above Yukon...Steve Radavitches store, Dr Hatfields office,
The Cotton Club across the road from George Perkovitches Bar Room ... and Gracie's down at the underpass.
I Remember the Church that Jack Griffith built...across the Bridge..The Rev's George and Frank Spears, that preached there at times..
My Brother-in-Law James Jackson ( Now deceased)Pastored there years later.
I lived in the first house on the left, Alva Martin live next and the Whites (That were the Al Deskens Inlaws) and Rose Hazelwood the Nulls The Slones ...the Harry Hall family ..the and Mrs Landrath and Billy...also the Ledfords
There was the Penleys store on the other side of the street
The Cooks, the (Sport Dameran family... The Van dykes The Low's the Mullins and George Stone's store.
The Haggerman's home and the others that lived in the top row of houses..
The George and Tom Addair families that live up above the slate dump in a big house...on the side of the mountain.
Don Addair is presently pastoring a Pentecostal church in Arizona.
While living in #2 Yukon in the early 1940's My Mother taught at The Yukon grade School...
We used to walk up the railroad track until that provided a School bus.
I knew all those that you named in your post..
There were the Meadows and the Hasses the Smiths that you did not mention.
At the time I lived at #2 there was only the Old skating rank at Sandy Bottom...(where they used to have rooster fights) No other houses were built across the dry fork river...
The Churches stores and Homes were built later.
I knew the Sargent family well...They lived across the road from us.
___
I remember that we used to have a community hog killing every Thanks Giving..
Every one would drive their Hogs to a place where the road divided near the end of the bridge, and the day was spent with each neighbor helping the other.. killing... scalding... scraping... Hanging them up.... processing them ...
and sharing with each other...
God willing I will write more later,..

I see you mentioned the Meadows family from Yukon. My grandfather was Howard Meadows and his father was Henry Meadows, raised by Thomas Jordan Meadows. Is this the Meafows family you knew? Searching through genealogy!:)

Hello Pam White, I knew your grandpa and grandmother well. 2 of the nicest people in the world. I believe his name was Ed (I could be wrong) I do know that your grandpa White was my school bus driver. I started preaching at a very early age. Rev Jack Griffith always ask me to help him preach revivals. I preached with him a lot. Go to yahoo search and type in McDowell County, WV then go down to photo section and click the Baptizing and you will see pictures of me baptizing with Rev Jack Griffith at Yukon, WV. If I am correct Rev Griffith and I baptised Brother Shelton who went on to preach the Gospel.
We baptized a lot of people. Some of the older Saints of God were baptized by Rev Griffith and me.
I am in the McDowell County, WV Movie titled, "The Flaming Rocks" and it is on DVD, I am in the section that was filmed at War, WV.
The Movie is over 2 hrs long.
I am married to the popular TV Radio Recording Artist Juanita (Long)Mullins, she has been a song writer, made a lot of records and traveled all the time. Juanita was born in Ky. We are a long in years now. BUT we still pastor for the Pentecostal Holiness Church. I went to College with the World Overseer who is Bishop James Leggett and was with him a couple of times last year.
I have wanted to come to #2 Yukon one last time and preach in the Church of the Living God there. i use to help pastor that church in about 1950. Baptized a lot of people who were saved in that church.
I have told many times that I have preached in BRUSH HARBOR revivals. Rev Jack Griffith had me help him in a revival in 3 Forks hollar in a Brush Harbor, he had a lot of them. Such a great man of God.
I attend public school at there and went on to College in Greenville, SC and studied with the Emmanual College in Franklin Springs, Ga owned by the Pentecostal Holiness Church.
We plan to retire to Atlanta in 2010. Our daughter Dr. Sharon Hejduk lives in Atlanta. We have a son who pastor in Tampa, Fla and a daughter who lives in N.C. and her husband is a church pastor. We have a 29 year old single son who lives near us here in Ohio on the shores of Lake Erie..
Are you speaking of Brother Woodrow Shelton...
