I for one are quite happy as a former student to hear of Mcquade's children services school in new windsor NY closing down of course i was one person who made an anonymous report about the school to the health department. more then (seven years) after my mother signed me out. the school does not take proper responsibilities and mesures for the safety of the students, One of the things i pointed out was that teachers allow students to voluntary leave class. and seem not to bother caring where they was going, Second was the lack of discipline the teacher had when students harm another student example (when i was 17, another student slammed my head against the side of a school desk.) the teacher's repond are you okey? the student was put in a timeout room for 5-10 mintues as punishment. now what if i got seroisly hurt? the students there seem to think they can do whatever they want, in gym class a student hit me in the back of my head with a basketball the gym teacher seem not to care but ignored me. i went school there from (2001-2004) half of the time which i can say most i didin't bother getting up and going to school but skipped all together, oh not to mention since when is it professional for a school nurse to spread Rumors that a (student) me had headlice to other students and teachers? and since when is it professional for a bus driver to tell other students on a bus not to sit by me because i supposedly had headlice? it is against school policy to give student information out. and other health issues, not to mention teacher-student sexual behavior, the two teachers having a party with two students which is inappropriate behavior (the students lived at the school) basically that is why i reported the school which i wasen't the only one.

mcquade children's services school in new window NY, closing down gives me great satisfaction! i didin't want to go there because like i said the School nurse told the whole school that i had headlice not to mention the teachers, pay back is a Bitch because of me as well as other people, that school will be condemned by the health department as well as the cottages where students who lived on the grounds. and everyone who worked there will be waiting on the unemployment line knowing they failed at teaching as well as everything else, that is what they deserved i'm gonna throw a party to celebrate the school closing down and drink till i pass out.

Wow! I was sadden to hear what happened to many of you while you were at McQuade. It is ashame and it was bad enough you were in the situation you were in. No one needed to make it worst or allow it. I'm glad to hear it closed! The McQuade I once knew wasn't always like that and I'm sure many of the alumni who have gone off, moved out of state, went straight to college, into the military, are in their respectful long term career jobs, got married, have a family of their own & kids like myself who have positively moved on to do much better in life can tell you, it wasn't always like that. Its seems like once McQuade expanded it lost its way, its purpose, stop teaching the morals and values that were drilled in so many of us back then on a everyday basis. McQuade use to be what it is but a lot more private. Once you open the doors to wide, you open it up to confusion & mayhem. I still remember some of the staff & all the efforts they made to ensure we felt like we were worthy to achieve anything we set our minds to. We could accomplish whatever we set out to do. I will always be forever grateful for some of them who cared. Although, some in the community, schools & people in the surrounding area were cruel in how they treated us because we were from McQuade; we were still made to feel like we could conquer anything by staff & many of us did who attended back in the 80's & 90's. They should have gathered or brought us back, as some of us who left still look back sometimes. What happen afterwards, when I read this, I'm at a lost. It is sad because no matter where you are from, where you live, or where you decide to head in life. Absolutely no one should treat you that way. McQuade had a positive purpose at one point and stood by its purpose 100% back then. What happen is why they should remain closed.

I disagree what people are saying when I first got to that school I couldn't read I was so lost without a family to love without people to care for me or teach me any thing I learned how to read to love and to care for myself and others.from 10 years old to 13year-old that was the best time of my life being on campus with people to love me and to take care of me I had it so good there

I currently attending Kaplan Career Academy,(which used to be McQuades) and I have to say its a step up, but there's still a fair amount of fights that go on. Kids do AWOL, runaway and OP, but not severally. The cottage staff seem to not care about us. Although there have no been any reports of "sexual assault" there have been rumors of teachers flirting with residents, which scares me. Also a handful of CTI trained crisis staff that work in the school show interest in restraining, particularly because it shows their dominance. Some staff seem take it to far and it's Obvious they are just in it to take out there anger. There's this one staff who works on the residential side who is a major loser. He likes to pick on some of us, call us names, Harass and antagonize us. He's hit some of us before but the most we get out of it is from the supervisor is "you can only control yourself" which is total bs. I mean don't get me wrong it's a fairly good place, but a lot of the men don't know how to act. The goal os to feel safe, not scared.. I'd hate to see it get shut down, like the other school did.

I hate this school I went here a couple of months after it re-opened but had to leave because of threats I got from a guy who worked there.

The so called crisis staff in the school and how there supposed to "protect us" is a lie. I have never once felt safe at this school. Being a victim of rape I hate the way these men look at us. I hate the way they hurt us when doing restraints to the point of bruising, and I hate the fact that they think its funny to "accidentally" touch our back sides. I think their completely inappropriate, and something needs to be done.
