Wow,going fast at night on the bay is nuts.Even as a kid,I always throttled back when the sun went down.There is no sense of direction with out a spot light to follow the channel markers and going flat out in a 40'boat is suicidal.If the tide is in I have cut the flats wide open in a 10'skimmer but certainly not at night and not in a 40'rig.Too many inexperienced boaters with too much speed.Who the hell needs 1500 h.p.to go 90 mph? The boating industry needs to quit building off shore race boats to sell to the Sunday boater.

Anyone see the story in Newsday about the two buoys missing right ahead of this crash? Story said Town of Hempstead removed them but did not notify the Coast Guard.
