GOP's Martinez wants to bring 'transparency' to state Senate

Full story: Lowell Sun

Sandi Martinez calls 2010 "The Year of the Republican" in Massachusetts. "Incumbents are really going to face some tough challenges this time around," said Martinez, who is seeking her third run for the 3rd Middlesex District Senate seat that has been held by Lincoln Democrat Susan Fargo since 1996.

Here's an email Ms. Martinez sent out last year:

Dear Congressman Lynch,

I listened to you on the radio the other day taking a stand for citizens, rather than for more big government. I would ask you to stand up now, and prove to the citizens of the United States, the their President is indeed a natural born citizen. The truth needs to be known for him to have any credibility.

Thank you for your consideration to this matter.

Sincerely,

Sandi Martinez

Thanks, Birther. Just on this e-mail alone, Ms. Martinez has my vote.

Isn't it interesting that Republicans running for office, all of them, never tell you exactly what they will cut and how much. They talk in generalities hoping everyone will think someone else's revenue aid or program will get cut but not theirs.

Republicans play you. If you're smart for once you will ask them exactly what they will cut, and if that is everything. So what they don't mention, get them to agree that it is not worth cutting.
GOOD LUCK!

That's why we need a complete record of the state's expenditures on the web. Everyone can make suggestions on where to cut. It's easy to say where would you cut if you don't know where all the money is flying out the door.

The State Senate adopted a Fargo bill today for a property tax cut. Good timing Martinez.

Fargo also wrote in the Lowell Sun last year that she would work to cut the Sales Tax and she even filed language to do it in the casino debate.

And, the Republicans have heaped praise on her for her reform efforts including her bill to send more money back to cities and towns.

Why no mention of Sandi's connection with that crazy group in California that wants to end public education - Alliance for the Separation of State and School or ASSS.

Can't make this stuff up. Sandi was a big supporter for years and only took her name off their website as an endorser 1 week before election day.

Public education is a priority in Chelmsford and everywhere else in America.

That kookie CA group you mention is the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Ms. Martinez's "life experiences" (as she calls them in this Sun piece).

She is currently head of the Mass Republican Assembly. Check out some of the links on that group's site. Scary.

She previously headed up the Mass Chapter of Concerned Women for America - ditto.

Past episodes of her horrible local cable show, "Speak Out," are a treasure trove of her truly frightening quotes, ideas, and beliefs.

"She believes her resume will resonate with voters across the district, which includes Bedford, Carlisle, Chelmsford, Concord, Lexington, Lincoln, Sudbury, Waltham and Weston." Really? Her resume did not resonate with the voters the last two races she lost against Fargo. And it will not this September either when for the first time she has a primary opponent. Every time Martinez has an opponent she loses. She will lose to Dahlberg and Fargo will have a real race.

Mrs. Fargo is not concerned about Mr. Dahlberg in the general election. They differ so little on the issues that Mrs. Fargo won't even have to campaign for re-election. She will walk in with 75% of the vote if he is her opponent.

Sandi Martinez will never win this seat. I know it hurts for her supporters to hear, but it's true.

She should have aborted this hopeless ego trip two election cycles ago and saved our party the embarassment.

We have an electable candidate this year in Dahlberg. He ain't perfect, but he knows how to do something that Sandi can never do: win an election!

Who do you think Fargo would rather face in November? If I were her, I would be extremely concerned at the prospect of facing Dahlberg.

If Mr. Dahlberg and his supporters were so confident of his chances, the voters would not be exposed to the nastiness of his campaign tactics against Mrs. Martinez. We are not impressed by them or him.

Sandy is a TWO time looser, hopefully, to be a 3x looser. This State needs a complete changeover, time to vote new (not continous loosers) people into this States Legislature. She has NO NEW ideas and she would be know as Fargo Lite, only living in Chelmsford.

I challenge those people criticizing Sandi for losing twice to Fargo to name me a single Republican challenger who unseated a Democratic incumbent in those two election cycles. This was pre Scott Brown - do you think your boy Dahlberg would have done any better?

Dahlberg himself seems like an attractive candidate. But you judge a person by the company they keep. The smear campaign his supporters have waged against Sandi has been appalling.

It's a shame the Republican party, with so few good candidates, couldn't have avoided this. It appears they want to drive all social conservatives out of the party. That would make a tiny party even smaller. Not exactly a winning strategy.

Fred - the party is doing what it usually does - nothing. The voters will decide who should take on Fargo.

Dahlberg's my pick (and incidentally the pick of almost everyone I talk to).

He's not perfect, but his pro's outweigh his con's.

His biggest pro? He knows how to win elections.

voters - How many Republicans in this state have been able to defeat Democratic incumbents in the last few election cycles? No one ever answers that question because the answer is zero. And yet people rip Sandi, when she should be given credit for even trying.

What elections has Dahlberg won outside of Chelmsford?

The Mass Republican party, under its socially liberal chairwoman, has clearly lined up behind Dahlberg.

Support your candidate if you want, but don't BS us.

Taxpayer, for you to say this, you OBVIOUSLY have NO CLUE. Mr. Dahlberg would be known as Fargo Lite and he has admitted it every time he opens his mouth. New England Republican, as he calls himself, is tax & spend andgo along to get along insider (he hasn't had a real job outside government!!) Go Sandi
