It's about time! The bill of rights guarantees you free speech, NOT the freedom to hide your cowardly flaming of other people behind an IP address. There is absolutely nothing in the constitution which gives you a right to annonymity. If you are going to post something about someone, you should be held responsible for it, end of story. If you really believe that you have the right to say whatever you want (and maybe you do) then you have nothing to fear.

Topix has become a place where people damage others reputations, hurt feelings, insult, degrade and destory and then count on their annonymity.

You have a right to say what you want but you also have an obligation to be responsible for what you post!

20 years ago the only way 2 anonymously exercise your "free speech" was to prank call someone or send them a nasty letter, or start a rumor or put up some graffiti.none of that looks 2 gud these days.

no connection between freely expressing yourself and getting to hide behind topix.

i like topix but i don't see why they should keep you anonymous.could be the start of lots more court orders.and the judge didnt say you can't xpress urself.just said ur identity isnt protected.if you want privacy, keep your free speech in your own home not on the net....

that's what proxy servers are for, or other "software" to mask portions of your computers' identity. Just because a judge says you can't be anonymous, doesn't mean that everyone will become visible.
