Events and Adventures is a huge scam, and once you sign up there is no way to get out of the contract. They trick you into signing a long-term contract and don't allow you to cancel once you realize that the membership isn't worth the money. I signed up and I got one of those "I immediately regret this decision" feelings right after I did so.

Thank you everyone for your posts I was about to schedule an at E&A interview Chicago and thought it was odd that they wouldn't tell me the address or give directions to their office until I scheduled an interview. I was even concerned that their website didn't have any membership information or about their activities. They even signed very fake and pushy over the phone. So thankful to have read the comments, anyone know of other legitimate websites where I can meet people?

I signed last Thursday in Newton and thankfully read that if within 72 business hours I send in certified return receipt requested letter, asking not to be bound by the contract, I have a chance of cancelling the membership. Not only was Nancy very pushy but like others have said, she would not take no for an answer. that should've been my first red flag. Hopefully I will get out of this unscathed but will tune in to future outcomes!!

So. I just signed up after feeling pressured into doing it. I only paid 25 dollars. None of these posts tell me how to get out of it. Just to avoid it. Well I already have it, so how do i get out now? I called to cancel and their rude selfs never called me back after me calling twice and being told someone would call me back. I guess I am going in tomorrow to speak with them specifically and get this sorted. My contract says I have 24-72 hours to cancel...but with a 400 dollar what a rip. how do I get out of paying that 400?

I would like to participate in class action suit against E&A. It's totally a scam.

I also fell into the sales trap. I have tried to get out. I am now receiving threatening emails and voicemail from the Houston club house.

The emails are from "owner" MARK... who states he meet his wife, but still is active in the events. Thought marriage was the only way "out"..

Who wants to get in on this Law Suit.?????
Lets go --- lets get them out of their 28 years of scamming people.

Anybody who wants to view the actual "calendar" that you are paying $1200+, and monthly membership fee--let us know... we will be glad to post for you guys. Just go to local bar in area!!!!

I went through the phone and in person interview without any major feelings of heavy sales pressure or uncomfortableness. I got the information I needed and was thinking about joining. Since the interview, I was offered a pretty hefty discount on the membership fee. Even with the financial incentive, I am still not sure if this is something I would actually participate in. I would say the two woman I spoke with were professional and pleasant, not too pushy but sure, it was obvious they were trying to make a sale. Worth looking into and then decide for yourself but don't spend money you don't have or expect a quick fix.

Don't do it! This is all I have to say!
I've filed with Better Business Bureau after waiting for 1.5 months to receive my refund....then Canada Events & Adventures did finally respond (after being approached twice for acknowledgement of my complaint) and said my refund was processed (ps. I cancelled within the 24hour clause and followed the contractual obligations). Then of course I never received my money back and the BBB has requested for a response from Canada Events and Adventures... of course they didn't respond in time. It's been over 3 months and after following the ridiculous contract in getting my refund 100% back ... wow is all I can say. I already know what my next course of action is... At least they now have a fat "F" in BC, Canada.
Seriously, you don't need this kind of club. Just get outside and be open to anything. Also, is a WAY better way to meet people that have similar interests as your own. Good luck!

I have been a member of Events and Adventures for 3 years and love all of the activities and the friends I've made. Its quite expensive but has been well worth it for me. That said, they stopped advertising for new members in the past year and cut back on events and cancelled events for the past 6 months because they were at risk of going out of business and we weren't told. They finally went out of business and a new company took over fresh. Many of us lost a lot of money that we had earned being an event host and money they had put out for events and trips that had been cancelled and it is not being honored with the new company. We haven't had events in months that we can use our credit for and were given no notice that we were losing them.

Everybody is going to have a different expectation in life and the adventures they take.I recently joined in Vancouver, and so far so good. It really has upgraded my life, and I WAS one of those so called "bar stars". And now my life is fun AND healthy.

BUT I laughed so hard when I saw this. Is it just me or does David work for meetup? LOL. I am pretty sure people ends up at Events and Adventures because of meetup and sites like plenty of fish who allow EVERYBODY in. Life is what you make it. Not how much you can complain about it. Keep in mind I am not insulting any of the above mentioned programs (I tried them both), but I know what I am looking for, and I think I found it in E&A. But even if I havent...NEXT!Soup for everyone!(Seinfield reference)

You obviously work for events and adventures!
