Events and Adventures Boston !!!! BIGEST SCAM EVER !!!!

I wish I could have read the reviews online about this organization. I am still trying to find my way out of this HUGE SCAM. I am agree with some of the people that says they try to sell the membership like a sales man at a Car Dealesrship. They will never allow you to try 1 event before taking the money of the membership at front. I know why because they know that once you attend any event then you will never join. The lady that took my mebership at the Boston area was rude and pushed me to sign for it. After 20 days when I try to get out of it they gave me all kind of excuses to do not refund my money back. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HUGE SCAM !!!!!. If anybody knows about any class suit please let me know
happy I read this

I just happened to come across this review. This is the one and only review I could locate regarding this organization. I don't understand why as I would have thought that there would definately be positive feedback if nothing else. Thank you, you've made up my mind for me.

I recently interviewed with Events & Adventures. Everything seemed okay. I couldn't decide if it was for me or not. I don't make quick decisions - I prefer to think about things - ask around and weigh the options. The sales person quickly recognized I wasn't going to sign up on the spot and hurried me out. I went to thank her and shake her hand but she basically couldn't be bothered. THAT, right there, made my decision. Had she shaken my hand and suggested I think it over, call with any questions, etc. it wouldn't have left such a bad taste. I'm glad I didn't sign up.

I interviewed at Events and Adventures last week. I immediately noticed how attractive and friendly the staff was. Various women form the company crossed through the lobby while I awaited my appointment. Everyone checked to make sure I was comfortable, offered refreshments, etc. I was then given a thorough and detailed explanation of the club by one of the sales rep. I have to say, I was extremely impressed at everything I saw. There is definitely a price tag, but when I considered what I spend going out after work, with friends, on dates, it seemed pretty reasonable. I'm thinking about joining.

I had an interview today and was put off by the high pressure sales tactics, I asked if I could think about it and after I said that the woman "interviewing" me was in a hurry to get me out the door! Not a pleasant feeling when they want you to spend 1,600 - 1,900 initiation fee with a 25 monthly fee.

As a member of Events and Adventures for almost two years, I can honestly say that it is the best thing I have done for myself since my divorce ten years ago. Events and Adventures provides a great opportunity to meet both male and female singles and provides a great chance to network. The group allows you to do things you enjoy without having to go by yourself. I have kayaked, flew a helicopter, sang at karaoke, attended baseball games, played laser tag and miniature golf, mingled at Happy Hours, participated in Zumba classes, learned how to shoot archery, attended Broadway musicals, just to name a few. Another reason I recommend E&A is that there is no stress. All you do is show up; It really is the easiest way to meet other singles. Events and Adventures is better than anything else I have tried as a single person. I believe the reason E&A is so successful is because of the quality of people. The women in E&A actually are very friendly. I have attended Meet Up events and not one woman has ever come up to me and introduced themselves. At E&A the women genuinely want to cultivate friendships with both sexes and welcome new members to the club readily. The men in E&A are also very courteous and conduct themselves as gentlemen. In the two years I have been a member, I have never had a man say or act inappropriately to me. This speaks very well for the quality of men in E&A. I hate to admit it, but I have been a member and/or participated in: Itís Just Lunch, Great Expectations, Match, Cupid, Speed Dating events, and Lock and Key parties and have never met the same quality of people that Events and Adventures has. E&A has really been a lifeline for me when I find myself single again after being in a relationship and I canít say enough about what the group has provided to me. The membership fee definitely was worth every cent I paid and more.

I wish I had never joined but now that I am part of it there is nothing I can do. At first I thought the events they had planned would be fun and something different. I went to the first event- singles mingle and was not impressed. It was at a dingy bar. It was basically a college bar. I am still wondering why we had to pay $12. I thought it was strange that they would have an event at this type of place since the saleswomen made such a point of telling me there were only professional people in this group and even asked if I could afford to buy myself my own drinks. Stating I should expect the people in the group to pay for drinks. I did attend one other event and it was ok. Generally the people were nice but I think it is a lot of money to spend upfront and then pay $25/month for a membership fee. Who are we paying and for what? I know there are administrative fees but after giving this a try for a few months I would say this is way overpriced and not worth spending the money.

I recently had the same experience and contacted the Better Business Bureau of Boston. This company had an "F" rating from a A-F scale. I did a stop payment on a check and refused to give cc info, they still have not contacted me directly to apologize or sent anything back to me but it was settled through BBB and I did not have to pay. I agree with you, she was so rude, she hung up on me...and she was "director of customer service"...run don't walk away from this "program"

This company now states its official address out of Florida, if you go to the BBB in florida you will see it has listed 4 different names for the comppany, all with bad ratings, check it for yourself Better Businees Bureau of Florida/Carribean and type in Events and Adventures and also Events and Adventures n More, you will see the ratings and complaints, steer clear of this if possible, my complaint was acknowledged by the Newton office but then all info transferred to Fla..odd??

I recently joined Events and Adventure...after reading all the bad comments I decided to make my own mind up about this organization. My experiance has been that this is a process... I did go to the first event I didnt really like that event but I met some really nice people. I have gone to about 5 more at the 5th event I met a gentleman who I had never seen before..and we started talking and now are dating. I would have never met this guy anywher else. Thank you NANCY...for being so persistant and not letting me take the easy way out which is to stay in my comfort zone.I almost got scared off based on all the negative comments, but then I realized all the people that continue to find fault... usally find fault in everything they try new and never give it a chance to work for them..what they were doing before they came to Events and Adventures was not affective. This is a process!!!!!!!!!!

THIS IS A HUGE SCAM- Stay away. I went to an interview in the DC area. You call the company, go in for your interview, the membership for the club for which they can not provide demographics for ranges from 1500-3000. They pitch as a country club type of membership with a 30 admin fee each month. Then they ask for all kinds of intrusive financial info and a copy of your license. I told the lady I wanted to think about it and she told me that I told them that I would commit if I saw nothing wrong except the cost. She was totally like a used car or timeshare salesperson and then got very angry with me for not signing up. I got up and told her I did not think this was a good fit for me and she told me I had issues and why I did not sign up was the problem with why I had not met someone and had just wasted time in a relationship. I should have googled this before I went in, but unfortunately did not. Be very cautious on this one.

I have to agree about the sales tactics. I was pretty turned off before I arrived at the office, however, I joined in spite of the sales model.

I really enjoy trying new things and meeting new people and I am burned out trying to convince my group of friends to 'do stuff'. I know how much time and energy it takes to organize group events (think herding cats) and I am happy to 'outsource' that organizing to others.

The fee is reasonable if you want to try a lot of different activities and possibly meet some nice people along the way.

I attended my first event this weekend and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the people I met. Everyone in the group was friendly and approachable.

Watch out this club! They are not very ethical. When I signed up, the sales person told me that I could try the membership, that I could cancel it if I don't like it. So I signed it. But in the contract, in fine print, it's almost impossible to cancel membership, and you may end up paying $400 for interview fee even you can cancel the membership. Not only that, when I told the office the story, instead of correcting the unethical sales behavior, they said my signature is on the contract hence I must pay it. So far, I have paid almost $1000 toward a $3595 membership fee without using the service for a year. So I stopped paying for it a few months ago. Now they send me a letter threatening to send my account to debt collectors.

This is the text about the cancellation policy in my contract signed in 2007:
" Your right to cancel your membership. Any cancellation must be in writing by certified mail, return receipt requested. You understand and agree that E&A, except as specified in this paragraph or as the law requires, does not grant, and you shall not request refunds, cancellations or revisions of any kind. You also understand and agree that this Agreement has been signed at E&A's offices and no "cooling off" period that would apply to door-to-door solicitations applies to this sale. If you are entitled to cancel this agreement, E&A will stop charging your account for your Monthly Dues as of the date yuour Membership is canceled and refund to you any fees paid in advance and not due as of the cancellation date. Except as specified in this paragraph, any cancellation will be effective thirty(30) days after written notice by you or E&A or at any later date specified in any cancellation by E&A. If you have not yet attended an event, you may cancel your membership within 24 hours(one business day) of signing this agreement for a full refund, or within 72 hours of signing it(3 business days), but will be liable for a $400.00 fee to cover the costs of member interviewing, evaluation and processing by E&A."

Any good lawyers out there who specialize in business fraud can help? Please contact me! There are lots of unhappy customers of Events and Adventures our there. My email: crystal_water999@yahoo.com. Thank you very much!

This review is also on the citysearch page for Atlanta. It's a long way from FL to GA to MA to get someone to write a good review. Gee, I wonder where her paycheck comes from?

This place is a huge scam! I went to the same one as Relieved Single did and couldn't agree MORE. The sales lady treated me really rudely during the whole interview, basically acting like I was stupid if I ever hesitated thinking about any question she asked. If I ever showed any hesitation about the whole program, she would get noticeably angry and speak to me in an angry tone. In the end when we were almost done I told her I'd like to think about it before committing to the price, that I'd like to do some more research about this kind of thing before persuing it. Needless to say, that didn't go over too well. I had told her of my profession about being an analyst and she made a crack about how the first 4 letters spell "anal" and that in her experience we're (analysts) are all babies who never grow up. It's about that time I told her she's been really rude to me during the entire interview and left. Now, I don't know if the program itself is any good since I didn't join, but there's no way in hell I'm joining a place where the staff is so mean!

Hi Sherry,
I interviewed with Nancy last Saturday...I had no idea just how expensive this thing actually is! I was really caught unaware and had to think about it...I haven't signed up so far due to finances, but I have this wonderful image of what it would do for my life and would sign up if I came into the money. I'm not only thinking about joining for dating but to make friends since I'm kinda a newby in MA. Now I'm reading all the ratings...now I'm confused.[I'd like a second opinion from someone who is a member...

I went to E&A in Boston yesterday. Everything was going fine until I started hesitating about joining. It was a big step for me to go to this interview. The sales lady started to get pushy and rude and I was going to give in and sign until I saw how much it cost.$1700 to $3000 to join plus $25 a month. Then you have to pay for activities on top of it. I thought it was a little steep and I just can't afford that now. The salesperson all but called me a loser if I didn't join.

Thanks for posting all the comments. I was thinking of joining but now after reading this, I am not going. They seemed pushy even over the phone. So I can just imagine what goes on there during the interviews. I suspected that it was a big scam, but now I am sure!! I still dont understand how they are still in business. They just started up in Vancouver (where I live). I hope that people read all the comments before signing up.
