Dace as I knew him was such a great guy. He was a teacher, a coach, a director and a leader. I acted in numerous plays with him. He was always someone you could go to. Someone you could trust. To me, dace is still innocent. I will not believe anything until his trial on september 11th. Even if he is guilty, I will always remember him as someone great.

I had Mr. Dacey at South Middle School from 1983-86 and he was one of the best teachers I ever had. I can't...won't... believe that he would do something like this. Not the teacher I knew.

I had Dacey in 7th and 8th grade. I agree. Innocent until proven guilty! I can't and won't believe he did this. He is a kind and caring soul.

A person is innocent until proven guilty but the acusers deserve to be heard and to find him innocent before he is tried is just as reckless as pedetermining his guilt

It is sad that your readers don't understand pedophiles. They are very cunning in their ability to seek out a victim, get their trust and then abuse them. It is a very slow process - a grooming and brainwashing of the victim. Most pedophiles create an atmosphere of being a nice, likeable person so no one would ever suspect them of anything. Know of one of the boys - his childhood was robbed, very popular but seemed lost. I believe that Dacey even had boys living with him that has not been made public. Lives in house owned by housemaster - didn't he think it was strange all these boys there? Dacey made sure that he was surrounded by people in the school system who could eventually vouch for him as a "nice guy". That's what pedophiles do. But he was strange, he shows too much interest, was with students outside of school that should have sent a "red flag" up to the school officials and others in the know that something was amiss. Dacey is not the victim - he is a criminal, a pedophile. Let's think about the boys who will live with this forever and will be in need of counseling and support for a very long time. Shame on all of you for being simple minded. There is too much of this and we need to protect our chidren. There had to be more to this that has not been made public, otherwise no arrest would have occurred.

Dace became a part of all our lives, it is difficult to believe, but very possible, he did many nice things, on the other hand these un- deserving victims must have gone through hell along with their families and friends,it must be hard to be a young man, not sure of who you are and a trusting adult change everything. unfortunately many other people were warned of this and not one did anything, now we see many teachers resigning,
the new school year is starting off poorly.
everyone is effected.

Put yourself in the victims' shoes. Dacey was so popular, that if they said anything, no one would believe them. How do you know the boys weren't threatened. They were already threatened at the time the abuse occurred. Everyone in Waltham is so tight with one another, they protect one another. Parents can't even complain about even the littlest thing, the school administrators say that you're the only one complaining. Wouldn't be surprised if there was a coverup.

Yes I will agree that is messed up about Dace being accused of these crimes, but it goes to show you who can you really trust. Dace was the coach you could go with and tell him your problems he was the father some kids never had. Most of all he was that guy that could put a smile on your face when your having a bad day and tell you everything will be ok. Well I will tell you something this has got to be the most shocking news in Waltham. Please remember this no matter what anyone says the man is still entitled to his day in court. It is up to the courts to find out if he is innocent or not. I do feel bad for him though because no matter what in the publics eye he is already guilty. That is the problem with the world. No matter were he goes he will be known as that guy that did that horrible crime no matter guilty or innocent. All I ask is leave it up to the courts cause to be honest the only one who knows the truth is dace and his accusers.

ur mom liked it, I can't believe I am even responding to a jacka$$ with a name like that, but you are exactly the type of person the other two are talking about. First of all your name shows your maturity level, Classy. Secondly, I hope for your sake you never get accused someday of a crime you did not commit. I am not here to judge a persons innocence or guilt, but I have no problem judging a persons ignorance. And I find you guilty of that no questions asked.

theres a culture that is willing to tolerate this kind of behavior in the school system. no one will come forward because the current administration refuses to listen and is openly hostile to any potential problems that may reflect poorly on her.theres a teacher at the same school that is suspended for the first two weks of school for sexual harassment of students.one comment he made"if girls wear skirts to class on test day, they will get a better grade". one parent complained, met with the teacher and the administration and nothing was done. he continued his harassment only to get suspended. another teacher at the same building totall lost it at a meeting and attacked her dept head screaming I'm going to scratch your F------ eyes out.how can any student be safe?

while what the person from wellesley says is very true about people who committ crimes against children it is even more difficult to believe when the adminstration looks the other way.

I was shocked along with everyone else When i posed the question to other around me! most did not seem so shocked! " he was a bit strange " however time will tell. I feel terrible for the boys that were tricked if this is in fact true. It does ruin lives for ever in many ways.
