1 http://news.cnet.com/8301-13578_3-10158505-38... One of Obama’s appointees, Doerr, has argued in favor of a massive diversion of taxpayer dollars to green tech. In March 2007, Doerr gave a speech at the TED conference approvingly citing Al Gore’s views on global warming. "I’m really scared—I don’t think we’re going to make it," Doerr said. "There is a time when panic is the appropriate response. And we’ve reached that time." Three years ago, Kleiner Perkins created a $100 million green tech fund, which has invested in technologies including solar cells, fuel cells, smart grid, ethanol, and synthetic fuels. Not-so-coincidentally, Doerr has lobbied for laws at the state level—and, more recently, as part of the "stimulus" proposal—that would benefit his portfolio by moving toward smart grid, solar, and other technology. great...more money down the rathole. |

2 Going green was a feel -good thing. A luxury for liberal envirowackos. Companies started green initiatives to make their employees feel like they were being good people. Now those employees just want to stay employed. In a recession/depression you don't do luxuries. The cheapest solution to the problem is the only option. Coal, nuclear and even gas (which is hardly a paragon of efficiency) are all cheaper ways to get electrical power than solar and wind. |

1 Absolutely not! I have always been a "cheapie". With the new 95-98% effieciency my largest winter heating bill was $120 this year. Also, without the help of a lefty consultant I bought a 4 cyclider stick Ford Ranger a couple of years back. Cheap enough on gas so I can fire it up when ever I want. Also, without the help of a lefty conseltant I bought my house clsoe to work and everything. At peak I drove 6K per year, now down below 4K. Those motor vehicles are a lot more relieable when are not wracking up the miles. Heck, last summer when gas was $4 per gallon I went five weeks on a tank of gas without the help of a lefty consultant. |

1 AND: many of the "Stimulouse" provisions turn into unfunded mandates a few years in, but the states have to take that condition WITH the money! Can you say "Federally Forced Unfunded Mandates from the Messiah?' NO?! Well, can you say, "More State taxes" to fund these??!! Better get ready to do so, all you smart Oby-sheep! |
