22 and 19yo.s should've been working somewhere instead of robbing a gas station. however, the clerk didn't have to kill the poor fella they probably just wanted the money it wasn't his money, insurance wouldv'e reimbursed the gas station. now this clerk has to live with that young mans death on his hands. wow what a hero!
Sad!

Jackie is right they should have been working instead thinking there is an easy way to get money. Someone always goes down when a crime is committed. It is so sad a life was taken, and I do feel for the clerk and having to live with this but what would you do? People need to stop and look at the consequences of committing a crime. Walterboro has a bad reputation for crimes. Are people bored and want to hurt others, don't know any other lifestyle or just mean? God bless the clerk and the familes of the criminals.

well chris how dare you say they got what they deserved no one deserves to loose his or her life over a bad decision also a inmature decision it obvious that these kids had know bussiness out there doing that crime the clerk shot them with their own gun these kids didnt have a clue dont get me wrong im not condoning what they did but nobody's child should have died that way and the other he almost died because of a wreckless decision if this had happen to one of yours would you still feel the same way

it is sad someone had to die but there are Consequence's to every action how ever it would of been better to just hand over the money in time the boys would of been caught or there guilt would of eaten them up they might have turned them selves in. Its a sad situation for all.

RJS that comment was ingorant and completely uncalled for. these boys no doubt made a very badd decision but the penalty for robbery isnt death. this community is dieing along with its people because we as a community are not caring enough to stop this from happening. when is it okay to give someone a pat on the back for taking another mans life. IT"S NOT!!! its patheic that people believe that. you are not supposed to take the law into your own hands. thats the POLICE job . they wouldve eventualy been caught. this is sadd. when are we going to wake up. when its someone close to you then what.

how could you say something like that no one deserves to die over a robbery its really sad to know that we have people feel that its alright to take the law into ones hand. Im sure that that clerk wishes that he would have done something different other than kill someones child and almost kill another. And as far as saving innocent lives who prey tell was he saving The money in the register come on you can always get money back but not the life of that young fella!!!!!

Let me get this straight. two men try to rob you, one sticks a pistol in your stomache, you have no idea if the other also has a gun or how many guns either of them is carrying. You are lucky enough to wrestle the gun away. This all happens in two seconds! Are you telling me that you would just sit by and waite to see if they start shooting before you return fire. You have to assume if someone pulls a gun on you they are willing to use it. It's not like we don't have plenty of shootings here already. My life is much more valuable to me and my family than any of these low life, not going to work, just take from others criminals! The clerk made the right decision and I beleive any of you would want someone from your family to protect themselves before they protect an armed robber!

i used to work at that very same gas station. it is sad that a life was lost, but you dont know what you would do if it were you in that situation. he has to live with the guilt of killing that boy. walterboro has been full of crime, but you tell me how many times did someone survive when a gun was pulled?! if i am correct NONE. they might have just wanted money and would leave but you dont know what they would have done after they got the money. i dont agree that he shot them because he had taken the gun from them, but when you are in that situation you dont know how you would react. its sad that walterboro has come to be what it is but they need a new sheriff and the community needs to stand as one. watch walking tall for christ sake. i left because of how it was so my daughter didnt have to grow up in fear. stand for what you believe in.

correction the one that he killed he struggled with. The one that he wounded was running away once you see that that some one is running away, running for his life why would you shoot him i understand that he didnt have no bussiness commiting this crime but once you see them running away WHY shoot him down like a animal

both were shot in the chest according to the paper. Doesn't sound like he was running away.

I'm sure the clerk felt he was acting in self defence
and had every reason to fear for his life. I think the shooting was entirely justified. Sad, but true.

Way to go clerk! A criminal so blatant to rob a store would have ultimately done it more times until caught. Only regret is that the other one didn't get killed. My hat is off to the clerk, and I spit on the grave of the low-life.

You all wonder why this town is drowning in crime. Look at yourselves. Are you raising your kids right? Are you teaching them they need to get a respectible job? This clerk acted in self defense. Like someone previously said, if someone points a gun at you, you must assume they're willing to use it. That clerk did exactly what I would have done. Keep your kids in school, make them get real jobs instead of dealing drugs across these streets, and teach them a little bit of respect. They learn from the enviornment they live. If adults can take care of their responsibilities, and take charge of their lives instead of letting these bad kids run loose doing things they shouldn't, this town may one day be a good place to live. Oh yeah, and where were the parents when these kids managed to get a gun in their hands? Something to think about.
