We certainly are a nation addicted to the BUSINESS of incarceration. It only seems right that the taxpaying public should support this man (to the tune of $40 thousand-ish a year) in jail for the rest of his life FOR STEALING PEANUT BUTTER!!!!!!!!!

Peanut butter -$3

Life in jail for peanut butter burglar -$1,600,000+

Seems fair to society, doesn't it???

No, he will not get life in prison for "stealing peanut butter".

IF he gets life in prison it will be for being a habitual offender.

Big difference. Not that the Reformer can distinguish...

Did you read the article. Do you know what "habitual offender" is?

Gotta love selective reasoning...

Sure the liberals will say let him go it's only peanut butter but at some point this p.o.s. breaks into a house to feed his habits and hurts someone. We the law abiding citizens have a right to be protected from low-lifes like this,

If this isn't "Not guilty by reason of insanity" our courts will have failed. Breaking in just to swipe lunch is crazy enough. Napping in the car in front of the place you just broke in is priceless. This man belongs in the Retreat, not the jail.

Everyone will see this as a half empty half full glass. The sad part people are missing is homelessness and hunger is on the rise everywhere in VT and NH. Have you ever been that hungry? If not than your lucky. We have more cases than anyone of us are aware of, until stories like this are released.
What this man did was wrong, and he has problems, but locking him up because he was hungry is a sad miscarriage of justice. Using the 3 strikes your out would also be abusive of that rule.
They state he has a history of being a habitual offender, but not stating what crimes, leaves you only guessing.
I hope this is handled in a positive not negative way, and the man gets the help he needs. Sending him in for life and tax dollars used in this manner would be neglect. I agree with Intruder1400 and whit, he is need of help more than jail. From the story he took food, and slept in a truck, he was no threat. Also if this guy has been in trouble a numerous times before why wasn't he helped than? Our tax dollars are suppose to help in rehab, this only shows me more and more their system does not work and hasn't for a very long time. This needs to be addressed.

This liberal says lock him up for life or take him out behind the barn and be done with him. Trevarrow has done far worse than burglary in his miserable life.

Well, I think the rumor throughout the years must be true; Porky likes jail! He's a pretty harmless fellow but just doesn't use his head! Fly home little bird!

While I am not condoning what this loser has done, how come is it this guy could face a life sentence when the puke who sexually assaulted a child only gets 5 yrs and will probably be out in 18 months because he will play the let's fool the therapist game? And if this guy is considered habitual than how come that puke Jacques was not considered what he is which is a HABITUAL dangerous predator AND WAS BEFORE HE RAPED AND MURDERED BROOKE? I guess the gentleman who commented the other day in the Rutland Herald was right on. He says the reason sex offenders get breaks is because of the elected officials who side with defense atty's and I could not agree more. Out here, that puke would be doing a straight 25-life and no parole for 25!!! So if this guy is an habitual when that scum gets out after 18 months then he should be considered a habitual sexual predator and watched 24/7, but in reality, this probably won't happen.

Yes! I know this sewer pipe rat. Like one post said, he doe'st give a f@@k. He has no respect for others. He has been a drug and alcohol waste since a child. In and out of prison over the years, he does not care about rehab, just about his next party.

Now obviously, this guy is a loser. But life for stealing food and few tennis balls? I hope it doesn't come to that.
