Sharon threatens Stoughton with lawsuit on Bay Rd

The Sharon Board of Selectmen is threatening legal action if Stoughton further delays repair of Bay Road.

If Bay Road runs throught both towns, why is only up to Stoughton to fix this problem. Shouldn't the Town of Sharon be responsible as well?

From what I understand, Stoughton is responsible for this section of Bay road and Sharon, for the section closer to Cobbs corner. Also, Sharon did offer $100K.

My suspicion is that this has a lot to do with the development sited and projected mitigation to Stoughton. Frankly, I would think we'd just say "no" to curb cuts and Bay road use, but it's just my guess.

What I find annoying is the Sharon residents up in arms over traffic in their nieghborhood. What about the people who have to put up with the same nightmare or worse, on Bay road?

I for one am sick of Stoughton dragging it's feet on this one. I live on Bay Road. It is a heavily travelled place that is shared by a few towns. I use it to go to work, and when they shut down Castle in Sharon, I had to go 6 miles out of my way to the highway.

Stoughton Town Meeting rejected funding the project to fix it. Although, I was there and understand the reasons why (there is no money in the coffers), this is a public safety issue. Therefore, it is imperitive that it be completed.

Waiting for funding from the state is rediculous. They have cut funding to many towns, and there will never be any funding from the state. It's like playing chicken. Who's going to move first? My guess is Sharon, with a big lawsuit. Then where will we be? Just spending money on court costs and the road will still look the same in 2019.

Stoughton is simply not going to pay to fix water damage from Sharon. So, Sharon Snobs, Brickstone, and the Elite from Easton, will have to find alternate routes. The Castle Dr. shortcut is quite scenic. Try it.

I live in God's country on a road that abutts Bay Road. The traffic has lightened with this hole in the road. I say fix it once and fix it right. Sharon residents will have to suck it up.
