Has anyone noticed that the dirth of bats, also? I have only seen 1 or 2 all summer, and I live by a lake where we normally have hundreds, and I have none in my bat houses.. I am sure the white nose syndrome has a large role in the decline. No bats eating mosquitos means more mosquitos, too.
yes i notice their are not that many bats around too. i have two bats that fly around our in ground pool eating the bugs at night. but this year i only have one and only seen the bat a few time all summer. i was wonder what is going on also.

Thankfully DDT is legal again. The green environterrorists had it banned many years ago with a result of millions of people dying unnecessarily.

It's a shame that stupidity isn't painful.

add 15 culex mosquitos to each quart of pink lemonade for a tasty protein drink....stirring slowly for 30 seconds gets the vitamins mixing...
(and the wings are good for relieving the doldrums on a rainy day)

I realize that the weather plays a role in the growing mosquito population. However, has Pittsfield done anything at all to try to control it this year? The mosquitos are just out of control here and, if they are this bad now, how many will there be in the future years? I'm a survivor of EEE and, let me tell you, encephalitis is not fun. When I get out of my car after work and make a mad dash to my door, I usually get attacked by mosquitos and bring about 20 or so of them in with me. I have a large, beautiful, nearly 1 acre of property which I simply can't use due to the critters. I haven't seen the mosquito patrol for years. But I haven't seen any bats for a couple of years, either. I think that Pittsfield should take this issue seriously and do what they can to mitigate the problem now.
