E-Bay traders warned they need a Pa. auctioneer's license
“Our position is that brokers who accept goods from sellers on consignment and then sell goods on eBay and retain a percentage ... must have an auctioneer license”
Although they hardly bellow like art auctioneers, some people who regularly sell merchandise on eBay are being warned that they need a state auctioneer's license. via Cumberlink.com

This is a crime -, mostly poor people are just selling things to get buy. To have a license to sell on ebay is a crime to everyone in Pa.

If you read the regulations, people who are only, emphasize "only", selling their own items are exempt. The state is after virtual auction houses using ebay as an output. Still, IMHO, ebay is the actual auctioneer, not the poster of the item(s).

Gov. Rendell has signed SB 908 into law that requires REGISTRATION (not licensing) of all folks that accept consignments from the general public for sale on any internet platform (eBay, Auction Arms, Craig's List, etc.) No registration is required if you sell your own merchandise or occaisionally sell something for a family member or relative.
