I am doing research about liquor in Lawrence County. I have noticed that the only place you can legally consume alcohol on a premises is at the Country Club in College City. Why hasn't anyone tried to put a bar in Walnut Ridge/Hoxie area? I know it is a dry county, but I believe it would be successful if they were considered a "private club" like some of the places in Jonesboro and Pocahontas. Just wondering some of the citizens thoughts and points of view.

I think you'd have TONS of opposition from the religious community. I don't think the people would support it.

I agree it would be successful especially if they serve food as well

Well not everyone is religious!!! Im tired of religion being shoved down my throat! I do believe in god but if i want a beer or glass on wine with my dinner it should be my right to choose! U cant tell me that christians from hoxie/walnutridge dont go to longhorn or olive garden!! Places that do serve alcohol! And if they do then well i think they should practice what they preach!!!!!!!! A bunch of bs is what it is! I think we should have a restraunt with a liquor lisence! If u dont like it dont eat there!!!

That vaguely resembles a veiled threat. If the almighty god fearin christians spent more time worrying about themselves instead of what everyone else is doing we would certainly live in a better world. But they wont. They have this driving need to pass judgement on every little thing and its ridiculous. Heres a thought, if you don't like something..don't do it. But stop believing you are the moral compass for everyone else on the world. Its not your right of duty to sit on judgement. Its your freaking arrogance that drives you. Dumb. Just dumb. Can I get an amen!

To each their own! Let people make their own choices! If u dont wanna go to a bar the dont! I see church goers at restraunts in jb that have full bars!! So if they dont want a bar/restraunt in the ridge. Then they shouldnt go to the ones in jonesboro to eat! Hipacrits!

It's not "the Christians" in wr that are the problem... It's the local cult, the main street Church of Christ.... Ooops... I said it... Hammer away at me now.

So are you saying Pentecostals, Baptists, Mormons, Jehovah Witnesses are endorsing having bars come to Walnut Ridge. I don't believe a word of it.

Tie dye and bakerton jr have ya'll ever ate at a restraunt that serves alcohol? If so next time you should reconsider. Maybe not a bar but a restraunt thats serves alcohol would be nice! Time to make something out of this town! Except for it being the church capital of the world!!! There is a church on every corner! Its ridiculous! Id vote yes!

Apparently you don't go to any of them. Maybe that is the reason we have fewer DUIs and less violent crime than most cities our size. Still a good place to live. More drinking won't make it any better.
