Alikhan was recently appointed to the Obama Administration as the Assistant Secretary for Policy Development at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. In this position, he oversees the coordination and development of DHS policy issues ranging from counter-terrorism efforts and disaster preparedness, to cyber and cargo security.

Well look at it on the bright side, you won't need Obama's health-care, Pelosi's abortions, crazy communist democrats ruining America, pain, suffering, death, or a job...and if you are still young enough, you automatically pass on that pesky wait for retirement.

If we could live thru 8 yrs of Bush ruining this country, leaving it in the biggest financial mess ever, trust me, Obama will get this country up and running again, and WE will get thru this Bush mess. Its been less than a yr, and its going to take a whole lot more time to undo the Bush crap that a yr. So lets give the man a chance!!

Maybe if we are going to keep fighting these wars we should consider implementing a draft. I just heard on NPR that 75% of potential inductees could not pass the entrance requirements, they are either too weak, too stupid, too high, or have a criminal background.

Like the old Virginia Slims commercials stated, " We've come a long way baby."

Nobody likes the idea of a draft, but it may come to that. If they ever do I hope it includes everyone, those who can't serve in the military should serve their time doing something productive for the country.

I agree, no exemptions, lower the standards so we don't totally sacrifice our best or get out of the business of war and our self imposed role as Policemen to the world..
Our heroic Volunteer Military and National Guardsmen have far exceeded their call to duty in most cases an if we are to continue these wars it's time for someone else to step up.

there should also be some stiff penalities for any who skip out ot the country to avoid serving, posablly a forfiture of citizenship.
