I can see the benefit in merging. I wish it would happen before I finish bit I know it won't. Maybe it will happen by the time My little brother gets in high school.

We could start one for students only. Of course that would be on the honor system, that probely wouldn't work.

I am really surprised by the results of this poll. I thought most people we against merging, but this poll shows most people favor it. If it continues we need to put some action behind our words.

No debate, If you think a students only poll would benefit go ahead and start one, but I think it would be just as effective if the students voted on this one and and at the end of their post put (which school) student

OK, us try this after voting scroll down and let us know if your a student, and if so where.

Adults could enter which school dist. they live in.
That will also keep this string near the top.

I am in WR. I know consolidation is the right way to go. I also know we have several in this area who have more pride than they do common sense. Good luck with the majority getting their way.

I would like to say I think we should merge with Walnut Ridge and it will make a better school for all of us. What would we call it? I understand Black Rock kept their name. I would want to keep our name for our campus. Could we call the school district Iron Mountain or maybe Lawrence County? I want better sports and better class offerings. Hoxie Eight grader

I like what you said, I am in grade six and I would not mind to have a new high school when I get there. I have cousins in Walnut Ridge and it is a good school. My cousins would be in high school with me. Hoxie 6th grader.

I like Iron Mountain. I am very impressed with Hoxie Eight. Maybe we parents should listen to our kids a little more. After all they are the future. I live in the Lawrence County school district.

Not Bad! There is a name and it is important. East Lawrence County is very discriptive.

It like what I hear. Merging of districts would be awesome. Teacher sharing, uniform pay, better sports and academic programs. There are a lot of pluses.

Back in the early 90's Mr. Jim Bland of the Times Dispatch had the vision and courage with me to advocate consolidation. We were ahead of our time. Now, our youth has the vision to see the pride and selfishness of some adult's is in the way of their future and our area's future.
We would have a power house academic and sports system. The stressful economic times insist we now move..... Hopefully, the folk's in leadership will forget losing a little power and see we need to unite. The cream will rise to the surface and we will prosper.
How about the Eastern Lawrence County Wolverines....

Students, You have straw polls and mock elections about other issues, do you think you could have one about this also. It might wake a lot of people up.

Your schools might allow you to circulate petitions to get the issue on the (mock election) ballot and other thins you would do in a real election.

This dosen't make sense. Black Rock is consoldated with Walnut Ridge. You couldn't call the school Eastern Lawrence County if Black Rock is included. How dumb some people are.

And why not Black Rock and Walnut Ridge are already called that, there is absolutely no reason it can't still be called that is it expanded to include Hoxie. How dumb some people are.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Taurus

It's important that you leave yourself plenty of room to manouvres during the weeks ahead, as Mercury turns retro today, especially when it comes to making decisions and airing your opinions to the world. You need to be as flexible as possible right now, otherwise you could find that you've boxed yourself into a corner and have to do some serious back-tracking. You need to consider all points of view and not just your own.
