Is that what I have been hearing as 'Hoxie is getting a new stake house?'

McDonalds is not locating in Hoxie!! I know this for 100% fact. The McDonald's in WR will be demolishing their current location in early 2010 and rebuilding in the same location such as they did in Pocahontas. That is the reason that the playground equipment was not replaced after the damaged/worn equipment was removed.

It would be nice if true that Hoxie can attract a McDonald's, but we would not want it to be moved from Walnut Ridge. There is room for one in each city.

would not surprise me if McDonalds and walmart were to move out on the by-pass, that is where the traffic is, when the by pass went it, all go thru traffic by passed WR, so both are losing money due to that, so makes sense to move where there is more traffic to increase business! Wr/Hoxie towns are dead due to the bypass

Funneling trafic through down town is horse and buggy thinking. Bypasses do not kill towns, look at the Jonesboro bypass, Mountian Home bypass, the list goes on. In fact keeping through traffic off Main St. enables those who want to shop there to be able to without being run over by an eighteen wheeler. Trouble is there ain't any places to shop in Walnut Ridge.

Walnut Ridge and Hoxie have had leaders with your mentality that will not take advantage of the by pass as other towns have done. Until they do we will not have as much tax revenue. Nothing stays the same. Its sorta like the fella who proposed we reinstall angle parking on Main Street. He said present parking killed downtown. Live for the future my friend, not the past.

Thats like says Clover Bend and Strangers Home died because of Hwy 67. People and business go to where the roads are. You can't stop progress but you can join it.

Great location for anything on the bypass. I think most of all surrounding land is own by farmers. Can't see many farmer selling farm land, but I could be wrong.

hmmm well it seems to me we lost afew business when the by pass went in, at least 2 gas stations closed their doors, and if McDonalds/walmarts is thinking of moving to the bypass that tells you they have also lost business from thru traffic of the pass, Yep by passes can be good, but they also can kill a small town such as WR, there is nothing here for people to come off the freeway to come into town, before you had to come thru town and that is when people stopped to eat and fill their cars, that no longer happens. so there is good and bad in having a town by passed, in this case, it was not good!!

Build all you want on the by pass that is still no going to help businesses in town. Stop and think about this, you might understand what I was saying..

Why does the manager not look at hygiene when hireing people up there. There workers are so nasty there are very very few that are clean up there and due to the nasty ones it has driven my family & friends away. And its very obvious several of them have a meth problem. I just think that they should put some of that into consideration before hireing people. I know that I dont want a nasty finger nailed greasy headed, unbathed skank being around my food. I think that its real bad for buisness.

I think you will find out that McD's has already acquired property in Walnut Ridge business district for a new store.

the problem with WR n Hoxie is there are too many big name ppl won't let anyone make a dollar in less they are the one make it. n if they can't make the dollar they would cut their owen throat where no one else could. but what is really bad is we have a Airport that has history as WR does n sad to said is airplane can land at the Airprot but not Jonesboro. n they wonder why the town is die or but the bypass is what is killing the town. but they won't do anything to keep buss here or make the bypass make any money ether so all you can say is RIP for WR Hoxie

let me brake it down for you .part 1; the problem with city of WR n Hoxie is there are too many big name ppl will not let anyone come in WR or Hoxie n make a dollar. in less they can get the benefit from it. but the big name's that control what goes on in n around WR N hoxie are the Big name's n are the ones are making the money off of city n if they can't make the money. then they would cut their owen throat where they can to stop anyone else from making a dollar in WR N Hoxie but you could say that is with any city or Politic but when you stop town from grown that is just bad buss. PS yes my family as been there for over 35+ years if any one wanted to know.

thats just plain silly, people in these two towns, have nothing to do with a McDonalds or any other chain name brand coming here. dont know what you are saying about the airport. but our little airport does not have the surrounding things to make it a real airport, and until that happens forget this airport being anything more than it is. the Jboro airport is surrounded by motels, eating places, car rentals and etc. which helps an airport to grow.
As for keeping Businesses here, we the people are often the reason nothing happens here, we do not support local businesses. we all go to Jboro to shop, without customers No business no matter what it is will survive.
Yes the bypass certainly did NOT help this town and is one reason its dying, but we dont have anything to make people come off bypass to travel into town to spend their dollars!!

According to paper our city is without proper funding from city taxes.. NOW where do we acquire city tax dollars from???? could it be from folks in town buying things.. Yep..that would be it.. but we dont have enough businesses to fund the city monies and then we dont have enough money/help to offer any new industries or businesses that might wish to come here.. You see its alot more that afew rich folks in town making this town die.. stop and think about that.
