I know it is talked about every year, but a lot of us young people wonder why the older people cannot get over it and let our two schools merge. We would have top rated choirs, ball teams, debate teams etc. Why hold us back from achieving? Live in your past if you like but let us live in the future successfully.

I really doubt that a student started this thread. Right now WR is doing great, Hoxie is at war with each other all because of Truxler. WR should not even consider consolidating until Truxler is out of the picture. Do we want to be have a dictator as a supt. Leave well enough alone at WR.

I graduated a few years ago and I have no idea why the two haven't merged. They're literally 4 miles apart. Walnut Ridge and Hoxie don't have a population to support two separate schools. We would have some of the best sports teams in the State, but its never gonna happen until the state makes them.

Let's just cram as many kids into one classroom as we can. Then we will see how much each child will learn. Bigger schools is not the answer. If WR and Hoxie would consolidate this would be three schools together because of Black Rock would go with WR. Ask any teacher and he or she will tell you that a smaller class is much easier to teach than a large class. Fewer kids mean that the teacher can cater more to that groups learning style. There are also fewer behavior problems in a small group. But hey, let just have one school for the entire county. Might as well include Sloan and Hillcrest. We already have the perfect name established, Lawrence County Consolidated.

get serious, consolidation of both schools would NOT!!!! over crowd classroom.. try using that thing you have called a brain.. just would have more classes its a state law that only so many kids per room.. but you would NOT have to have so many administraters, one HS principle and vice princple(9-12).. same with middle school (7-9)and then grade school (k-6) that would saved the salaries of 6 administraters.. and that my friend is a bunch of monies.. would need less coaches per school.. all campuses would be used, nothing would go to waste. Hoxie could be High school, WR could be Middle School( or the other way around what ever!!!) and grade schools could be left on each campus!!! just think how much GAS money would be saved each day.. NO WR/Hoxie buses passing each other every morning.. I have and continue to be amazed at how stupid these two communities are when it comes to the schools!!!!

It's really come down to who has the more power because Walnut ridge wanted to be high school n Hoxie wanted to be the high school and all they would have to do is Build a new school n close down all three schools n just have one for Lawrence Co

Getover it?????????? what about the money that is being spent for extra admin salaries, that could be used to increase our educational values for your children.. we dont need freedom of choice, we need a good STRONG school system that teaches our children a well rounded education, so that when they go off to college they dont have to take remedial coarses.. what a waste of parents dollars and tax dollars, re teaching what should have been taught in high school.. folks you are amazing.. stop think, learn what is what.. we need to make sure our children are getting the MAX education NOW!!! geezzz folks.. wake up.. smell the educational system, it does not smell very pretty in this area!!!!

First off , you should learn how to spell the words principle and administrator, as you can see I spelled them correctly for you. Also you used the wrong version of principle lol. What you should have said is principal, how about instead of sitting on your butt being lazy all day, why not go pick up a dictionary and actually try learning something for a change?

You are a prime example of why consolidation will not work, because it will leave children behind and they will suffer education wise.Take yourself for example you misspelled two very easy words that a first or second grader could easily spell, by commenting you have proved the point why consolidation fails.

Actually, dumbass, principal is the the correct way to spell the administrator version. You spelled the homophone. The principle reason why.

The only way to do anything about consolidation is to find people who favor it and get them on the school boards of both schools. It can be done but it would take a lot of work and time. Another thing is, if you want something done, don't expect to sit back and expect someone else to do it.

yep you can spell, but you sure cant reason things out!!! our children now graduate behind.. they almost always have to take remedial classes in first yr of college.. seems to me we should be at least trying to make sure they graduate with enough education to attend college without having to take remedial classes to catch up with other college kids.. you might spell better, but your way of thinking is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy behind the times..

One school would be fine. They would not all have to be in the same building. Also, just because a district has larger numbers does not mean they have to have more students per classroom. They all just have more opportunities.

amazing how folks do NOT take the time to really think things thru. always using the easy out ,put downs for one mistakes in spelling words, always looking for a way to make one feel smarter than another, its not about how you spell or misspell a word, its about the level of education YOUR children are getting.. too late for most of us, our children graduated either school, behind the avg student state wide.. so keep using your spelling excuses to make yourself feel better, and forget what your child is missing out on!!!!!
