I have a few things that need to be addressed of course they will be ignored
like the rest of the issues in school.
1. How does a student miss 15 days of school when you as the parent drop them off at School and the parent is never notified until it's at court or they failed that semester.
2. Does our teachers never notice that the
student was there 1st & 2nd period but not rest of the day and the parent did not check them out.
3. 3. Now your child gets sick so you take her to the Doctors, just to be shocked that at 13 years old your daughter is "Pregnant".
4. Where does the fault lay when you know you don't let your child at 14 date
she is at home with the family every night.
She proceeds to tell you that she has been leaving the school campus to be with her 19 year old boyfriend. She saids
mom no one ever noticed I was gone.
5.Now as a parent what would you do?

Students switch classes 7-8 times a day with different teachers, they wouldn't notice but the office should if the absences are being recited correctly. They should have let you know sooner that your child had that many unexcused absences for sure! As for leaving to be with a boyfriend and getting pregnant, that's untouchable unless you are directly involved. Every parent out there parents differently.

Dang I thought the schools were more strict now! I used to sneak off campus to smoke when I went to Hoxie but that was 15 years ago. I still think both schools should have some sort of security guards on campus. I know of people that said they would volunteer and do it with no money, just knowing the kids may be safer was payment enough. Just a thought that will probably never be addressed at school board meetings.

Yes. The school should have noticed, but a 13 year old shouldn't have the balls to leave campus. What kind of parenting has she received? You can't blame the school for her turning up pregnant and you shouldn't have allowed her to talk to a 19 year old!

The schools have an attendance policy and attendance letters are mailed out on a regular basis, if you have given them the correct address. Your daughter might have been getting the mail before you.

Wow!! It seems to me that the parents weren't "allowing" her to see the 19yr old which is why she was sneaking away from school. When I send my children to school I expect that the faculty make sure that the kids are there on campus. They should have noticed much sooner. I have been hearing a lot of complaints about the school recently though.

So sad that kids try to grow up so fast these days. I pray all goes well for you, an bless that little girl an all she'll go thru. So young to have lost all innocence. The ones above are right, it's not the schools fault she left an got pregnant, but it is their fault for not notifying you if she had missed school. Probably a few there that should most definitely lose their jobs. That's very disconcerting.

I have news for you.........you may think that you are the perfect parent, but you cannot be with your child 24/7. I have talked to my kids until I am blue in the face about premarital sex. I have preached to them about pregnancy and STDs. That being said.........I can only hope and pray that some of what I have taught them has sunk in and that it stays in the back of their minds when I am not with them. I do know not to sit here and say "my kid would never do that" ..........all I can say is that I have taught my kids right and wrong, and I pray that helps them to make the right decisions at the end of the day!

Don't think there are any pregnant 13 year olds at WR. One girl in HS is. It would have been all over the school if so. If child was absent more than a few days parents would have been notified. Saying they were not and that being true are not the same.
Parents, check your kids phone messages & email from time to time. Might open some eyes.

Pulaski County Special School District has the automated calling system . If your child didn't show up in one or more of their classes that day and you as the parent didn't check the child out or call in to let the school know they will be absent the call system lets you know . Maybe this is something your county could implement .

My daughters school also has 2 full time security guards .

Girls that age want to grow up to quickly , 13 -14 is way to young to be having babies !!

Actually if this were about Sidney and I'm not saying it is . The truth should be told as it may make a HUGE difference on where we search ! I would be more inclined to believe she ran away as opposed to laying in a ditch at the hands of her step-father . Now is not the time to be harboring secrets even if they may be humiliating . This forum is not the place to lay your cards on the table , instead choose a controlled setting like the Bring Sidney Home facebook page where you can simply delete & block unwanted comments .

There will always be hateful hurtful evil people in this world who will spew venom every chance they get and don't care who they hurt in the process . Never mind them , turn the other cheek and ignore them right now . Don't let these people and their ignorance distract you from what your focus should be Bringing Sidney Home . This is the first time I've commented on any topic here . Some of us are genuine and only want to help . Prayers to the family & friends of Sidney Randall , may god wrap his arms around you all and carry you through these difficult days .
