Why is there benefits being held for someone who may only be off work less than a month and has insurance? I know lots of families that need help more than this family. I refuse to help someone who can still afford to pay their bills while out of work but just may not be able to have all the entertainment and eating out the family is used to. If I were in their shoes I would be embarrassed to take charity knowing others need it worse.

I have no idea who you are talking about but usually benefits are organized by friends of someone that want to help out. If you do not want to give for the cause that it a choice everyone has. If you know lots of people that are in need of help perhaps you should get off your ass and organize something for them instead of bitching and moaning about what others are doing to help people out.

I think it is great people help others in the community but agree some are asking for help when it is not necessary. I think I know who you are talking about. Maybe they should just cut their spending instead of asking for hand outs. I have family that has missed work without pay because of sickness and they had to do without some luxuries tor a bit. Save the community help for those that really need it like the Sains where both are out of work and will be for some time.

I know lots of people too who have had wrecks, illnesses and other things that kept them out of work for a few weeks and they did not get any help. When both people work and one is not able to for a few weeks, they should not have to have help. If both have good jobs, they should be able to make it on one income for a little while, especially if they have insurance. My goodness, I know women who have had to be off work for weeks after having a baby and no one helped them. You have to learn to manage your money.

Dear So, if those friends want to help why don't they just give them money or pay their bills. Because those friends want to help by using other peoples money instead of their own.

It's not necessarily about the bills. It's about having money for gas to travel to and from the hospital, meals, housing, parking fees, and incidentals needed while being away from home. It adds up in a hurry and most people are not prepared for all the additional costs. Insurance companies do not get in any hurry and the bills pile up before they get paid. Any contribution made during a crisis is appreciated.

The person I am referring to did not incur any housing cost and was only hopitaliized a few days and she probably makes more trips to Jboro when she is not sick then she has for doctor visits. limit eating out going to ballgames manicures dance glasses etc if you cant pay your bills. Just saying benefits should be for those that cant afford their nessities not yo help someone with their extras.

I have never passed up the chance to donate when someone in the area has had a financial need but the people I have helped had basic or no cable, no internet, very little income and no insurance. And I refuse yo help people who smoke drink or do drugs.

Saw the whole family at Dark Side tonight. When my family was struggling to make ends meet we did not eat out. Like others have said if you want help you should try to help Yourself before asking others to pay your bills while you continue to spend on things that are not necessary.

Wow, she is going back to work next week. Like some one else stated, new mothers are off work longer than this person and they don't get help. I too will not give to people who smoke or drink or use drugs. And I will not give to people who keep their kids in karate, dance, etc when they are struggling. My family had to cut back when my husband was out of work for a couple of months. We learned to not eat out,not go to movies, and to really watch what we spent. It was a humble experience but we came out learning some tough lessons. If you save some when you make it, you'll have it when you need it!

Some over react and still others jump to conclusions not knowing all of the facts. I think there are those who want to help. Perhaps the best thing to do is to not make such a big thing out of helping until you first give yourself in private. Then the rest can take place based on the circumstances.

You are right. Lot of people 5759giving and helping others just to make themselves look good. How many of them would help or give if no one knew about it. Just like giving in church. Some would not give if it were not to impress people. Cant wait to see how many people continue to tithe once the day gets here when they can not use their giving to the church as a tax deduction.

You know I have never given for the tax deduction though I take it when I file my taxes. But it has never been in my mind when I give. All of my giving is free will anyway. And yes I give above and beyond the traditional tithe. Anyway, nearly all of my giving is in private and I hope to keep that way. I don't like doing the show off stuff. Though I can see that a united show of support is sometimes important inorder to lift someones spirits.

Maybe this illness is what she needed to show her she does not always have to be in charge and in control of everything. She has left at least 3 good jobs because she eventually could ot run the show. And even being sick she still wants to control everything. She may have to learn she can rule the world like she rules her family.
