Steve. He has done a good job. He is not paid. Just a little upset I hear over losing Sparks. Also, was she not offered an operator's job at 911? The county is having to trim their budget due to several years of bad budgeting. Someone had to go to make it balance. The Judge gave up two employees.

What really happened is that Dale got his hand caught in the candy jar again by Peggy Miles. He is using the budget as his way out of this situation. The budget committee already had the budget worked out so the funds could be appropriated in the right way. Mrs Miles heard that the Judge was thinking about retiring due to "medical reasons" and Peggy had to act on it because she knew that Dale Freeman was her only chance at getting Sparks job. Dale Freeman promised Peggy Miles and Glendal Floyd the 911 position if he was to win the Judges seat. Peggy Miles wouldn't let it go. She had pushed him ever since he has been in office. When she heard that he got caught having an affair on County time on County money last month she knew it was her time to step in and bring in her black mail before he left.(p.s. she has sued the county before and has lost) We here at the center are out raged of what has happened and is hoping Dale Freeman will resign as County Judge. Jones and Sparks has worked hard for this center and emergency management and the county judge threw it all away for his personal mistakes. He didn't have the county welfare in any of his actions. The quorum court WASNT even aware of what he did until after it was done. This was a Dale Freeman/Peggy Miles discussion/decision for our county. Now the center is being ran by a person that has no clue on how to run it. Again it has taken years of training to get this where we are and she thinks she can come in and take it over, well,I forgot Paige is one that will be running it as we was told the other day or until Peggy can find someone to replace her with. Tonight we get to listen to Dale & Peggy tell us a bunch more lies, doesn't the man know we all know what had happened! We have no respect for either one of them!! We are staying to show Steve and Sherry respect and not to let them or this county/citizens down. And for Steve and Sherry we know you guys are relieved in a way that you don't have to deal with the back stabbing of Peggy, and if anything hopefully this is just a small break for the two of you. Thank you both for everything you have done not only in 911 but in emergency management with all the grants the county has received and working long hours on the disasters this county has gone through. Hopefully our county citizens will see this and support us in getting the two of you back.

I agree with you but not only did they do for the county FD's our dispatch office terminal, radio's including the 911 phase two was purchased with grant money we would still be using the old 911 system if it wasn't for them. The police officers radios, the radio tower that fell during the ice storm. The two of them has saved this county hundreds of thousands of dollars. They was great bosses and supervisors. They was fair and treated us with respect. There are other departments where he could of saved money, but then again Miles didn't want their job!! Freeman needs to resign!!!

we here at the wrfd know what peggy is up to, she can NOT be trusted, she is the reason all of this got started, she has wanted sherry's job from day one, she wants to be a big dog but she is a poodle and will always be a yes person. you all have not even seen what chaos and trouble we will soon be having with peg miles involved in anything, this is sad to say, i like her but it is the truth.

Sherri Walker Sparks who was recently released from her job as Lawrence County 911 coordinator and Grant writer, was released from her duties because of misappropriation and personal use of public funds, not because of budget shortages as reported in the Jonesboro Sun on August 14th. On August 7th during the Lawrence county quorum court meeting, judge Dale Freeman was questioned and opposed by court members Jim Johnson and Alex Latham as to the dismissal of Sparks. A heated debate erupted that included the entire court between Walnut Ridge police chief Richie Thratcher who was present and whom lives with Sparks and the new 911 coordinator, Peggy Miles. During the debate judge Freeman revealed that he had consulted attorney Dick Jarboe about irregularities found in the handling of 911 office funds and was advised by Jarboe that criminal charges could and probably should be filed. It was also revealed that Sparks had not and would not give Miles the password and access files in the coordinators office. An independent and thorough investigation is needed to secure the integrity of the office and ensure public trust.

I have read all of these posts and I know enough to know none of them tell the whole truth and that the truth is twisted in each one. Sparks was working under supervisors and followed policy. She was a hard worker and did a lot of good for the County. Jones has also done much for the county. Was poor judgement used? Yes. Did the Judge have to take charge and get the policy and budget in line? Yes. Are feelings hurt? Yes. Are the comments on this page filled with jealousy, distrust and untruths? Yes. It will all wash out in a few weeks. Why, because there is no missing money and the County Judge has no opponent other than the one who ran against him the last time is still keeping things stirred.

There is 30,000 to 35,000 missing. You need to learn ALL your facts. But you are right about one thing.. this will come out in the wash.
