I think the nastiest restaurant in Walnut Cove would be Cove Grill I will not eat there agian!! My husband sugested that we go eat there so I said I would try it and I was sick to my stomach they have long strings of dust hanging from the plastic flowers in the table area and it just looks not clean ! I would be very surprised if they have an A rating .

There are some nasty restaurants. I am glad there is a forum to find out what filthy places are out there. There is enough sickness without eating and getting diarrhea.

The plastic flowers might have been a clue. Think about it.

What is are roches? IS that a foreign language?

The next time you go to the K & W Cafeteria at Forum VI Mall (Friendly Shopping Center), check your silverware as you unwrap it because it is usually filthy and you will have to go back and get more, maybe several times. Also, if you get the carrot/raisin salad, it may be spoiled. Twice in the past month I had to take mine back. We are changing our eating destination.

Yeah, that and the building itself. I wouldn't eat there if I were dying of starvation. |

I knew a fellow who ran a small dinner out of an ancient caboose in Southern West Virginia.. The Fellow always had a week old beard, smoked cigarettes while he was cooking.. The place as best I can remember was reasonable clean, but nothing to brag about.. However this fellow made the best food you've ever eaten.. Myself, if no one has ever gotten sick from eating in a place and the food is great, I don't care if they've got dirt floors.. I'll go for it.. When I used to play music, I would look for the rattiest most dirty place in town to eat. They were usually the oldest.. Ya gotta admit for a Dinner to be longest running place in town, they stay open for some reason and that reason is the food. Judge a Beanery first for it Longevity and then the food and not the grease on the counters.. |
That sounds like a dinner that was in McDowell County WV years ago. |

Sure was.. Near Matney's Junk Yard.. The fellow sure could cook, but looked like a bum.. Never known anyone getting sick from eating his food though. |

1 Ain't sure what they did with the Yard.. I've not been down that way in 10 years or more.. Tell me, aren't you from Carswell, just down below Riley's and with a sister named Linda? |

1 I was on the aircraft carrier USS Ranger (CV-4) for 32 months during the war. It was an old carrier built in the thirties. It was scrapped in ’46 and a new Ranger (CV-67) was built. I don’t know whether it is operational now or not. I haven’t seen McDowell since the floods. It must have devastated Kimball. That’s a shame, as I always liked Kimball. Have a good evening Dawg. |

1 Yeah back during WWII, they built the Carriers fast, but well.. When I worked for the DOD where I was responsible for sending Software updates to the Carrier Fleet, I never sent anything to (CV-67), but seems like I can remember a (CV-29), but trying to remember something is like looking through a mud puddle hoping to see the bottom for me.. My memory really sucks raw eggs.. Where most can remember what they had for breakfast, I can't remember if I had it.. These days I am like to stop a couple times in a meal and say Grace forgetting whether or not I had said it before the first bite. For me, Grace said before a meal is more important then the meal itself. |

Because of cultural habits I don't eat at alot of Mexican restaurants unless they are higher end. They tend to be clean only on the surface, but employees cut alot of corners and don't follow rules if they don't want to. Most of us are afraid of our bosses who are afraid of the health dept. That is why you see alot of their restaurants on RR. The Chinese as well because they usually have illegal immigrants working in the back to save money. There are many of our own that I bypass as well, btu we can usually tell.

Dawg, I am starting to have problems with short term memory. I hope it is just from old age. I have good long term memory.

I suspect that you are correct Joe. I often eat in Chinese restaurants nowadays. I hope that they're ok in the kitchen dept.

1 Frank, my short term memory started going bad when I was in my 40's.. I think it is due to low PO2 Levels cause I have COPD and function on around 40% lung capacity.. Atleast I hope it is due to low PO2 Levels. |
