When will the city of Irwindale inform the public that one of their law enforcement officers was suspended for sexually assaulting a female driver.

I would think that it would be of importance to see if any other female drivers experienced the same abuse from this officer.

We know this officer has beaten his wife and knocked up a young police dispatcher.

The city of Irwindale continues to embarrass the area.

It is true...We have been waiting for a month for our city officials to bring this to the public attention. We need to know if any one else comes forward with similar allegations.

He was probably just following the footsteps of his supervisor and mentor. That seems to be normal for some of the irwindale police supervisors. Do as I say...not as we do. They get away with it, so why not take advantage of the publics trust. It's a sad situation that they allow this. What's the chief of police doing to protect the public? I bet nothing !!!

Ex-Irwindale police cadet charges sexual harassment by lieutenant

Woman's lawsuit says Lt. Mario Camacho pressured her to accept his advances in exchange for favorable treatment at work and a reduced rate on a rental condo.

Los Angeles Times
January 3, 2013, 8:25 p.m.

A cadet who said she was sexually harassed and later forced to quit has sued the Irwindale Police Department, the second lawsuit in six months to question the behavior of a high-ranking police lieutenant

Both lawsuits filed against the agency name Lt. Mario Camacho. In July, Officer Rudy Campos filed a federal lawsuit alleging that he didn't get overtime and received negative performance evaluations after he voted against a contract provision Camacho favored. That case is pending.

The most recent complaint, filed Dec. 11 in Los Angeles County Superior Court, alleges that Camacho sexually harassed Alma Chavez, a non-sworn police cadet who started working with the department in 2008. She alleged that Camacho held her hand, kissed her and groped her while they were on duty, sometimes in his office or city-owned car.

Initially, she rebuffed his advances, but gave in when he created "a hostile work environment," according to the lawsuit. When Chavez accepted Camacho's advances, he promised her a full-time permanent position with the city.

Camacho "would be really mean to her and make it difficult for her at work, but when she accepted the advances he was really nice to her," said Brandi Harper, a lawyer representing Chavez and Campos. "When she started, she was 19 years old, her dream was to be a police officer and he knew it."

Irwindale Police Chief Dennis Smith referred questions to attorney Jeffrey Thompson, who is representing the department in both lawsuits. He declined to comment on any specifics.

"The city takes these type of matters very seriously and believes it has done nothing wrong in this case," Thompson said. "We will be defending it aggressively."

During Chavez's more than four years of employment at the Irwindale Police Department, Camacho gave her gift cards worth hundreds of dollars at Victoria's Secret and Forever 21, as well as a Tiffany's bracelet and Louis Vuitton purse, according to court records..

In an October deposition, Camacho didn't deny that he gave her gifts and admitted kissing and holding Chavez's hand while they were on duty because they "were close friends."

He said he also lent her money and rented Chavez a condo he owned at below-market value to help her out, but later asked her to move out when he discovered someone else was staying there and not paying rent.

In the lawsuit, Chavez said that she felt forced to quit and that Camacho was upset because she was living at the condo with her boyfriend. He allegedly called her into a meeting and told her, "I can't stand working with you anymore, this meeting will be your two weeks' notice."

She submitted a resignation letter after that meeting, according to the complaint.

Thompson declined to say whether Camacho had been disciplined or placed on administrative leave.

There is a serious issue here...especially when it involves a paid police officer who is suppose to uphold the law and order. I hope he is held to the same rules and discipline as his subordinates would be held to. If true.... It would be unfair to see him get away with this, when I'm sure there is some type of policy or rule about doing this type of stuff on duty, in a city vehicle, and to a female employee.

So let me get this straight - A department Supervisor who is supposed to know better, violates a person's civil rights and is sued, he also molested another female employee and made her quit, he then confessed under oath and admitted to misconduct against her while on-duty and in a city owned vehicle, but he is going to waste our tax payers money to "fight these cases aggressively." How stupid is that? I hope he is paying for his legal defense fund since he did this at his own will and under color of authority.......wait, isn't that a felony? Why should we pay for his misconduct? Sounds like there is more to the story than what is being told!!!!!! Who is the other officer? Are they related? Is that a lawsuit too? So many questions to be answered so We will have to go to the next Irwindale Council Meeting this coming Wednesday night. See you there! Maybe the reporters will be there to update the public

The Tribune is not writing on these news stories.

They don't write about Baldwin Park or Irwindale. The Tribune is bought and paid for by our city officials.

Who is running that place? He should be fired since he isn't doing his job! How can public service officials get away with this type of conduct? Isn't there rules for them? Why do the taxpayers continue to allow them to pay for legal defense funding for these criminals with badges and guns?

Forget about Camacho Another officer while on duty pulled over a female driver , exposed himself and molested her. The rumor is it was David Fraijo.

Check it out He has been suspended.

It appears that Irwindale city officials are trying to cover it up.

Malibu sheriff's captain to resign amid sexual misconduct claim

January 12, 2013 | 10:20 am

The captain of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Malibu/Lost Hills station will resign amid allegations by a deputy who says she was a victim of sexual misconduct, an official said Saturday.

Capt. Joseph Stephen of the Malibu station confirmed Friday that he was one of the targets of the probe and had been questioned by investigators Friday. He denied any wrongdoing.

Also being investigated are retired Chief Ronnie Williams and Capt. Anthony Ward, who was heading up the auto-theft unit until he recently retired, according to four sources. Williams denied any wrongdoing, and Ward could not be reached for comment.

Stephen and Ward "know our stance on inappropriate relations and they made the decision to resign immediately," Assistant Sheriff James Hellmold told The Times Saturday.

The Sheriff's Department is investigating the deputy's allegations.

"I take this very seriously, and I will find out what did or did not happen," Sheriff Lee Baca said in a statement.

The deputy is the daughter of a top aide to the sheriff.

All of the sources asked for anonymity because the investigation is ongoing and they were not authorized to speak to the media.

The deputy who leveled the allegations referred a reporter's inquiry to her attorney. Her attorney initially said, "I think she wants it to come to light," but later canceled an interview. The Times generally does not name potential victims of sex crimes.

Sheriff's officials said the probe was in the preliminary phase.

The deputy's allegations involved sexual coercion by officials who outranked her, sources said.

She made the accusations after facing her own allegations of misconduct, sources said. Court records show she has a pending felony charge of vandalism and misdemeanor counts of battery. She pleaded not guilty. She has been placed on leave without pay, according to a spokesman.

Reached by phone Friday afternoon, Stephen said he was waiting to find out if he was going to be removed from his command. He called the deputy's allegations "absolutely, unequivocally" untrue but declined to say if they had had a sexual relationship.

"I don't want to get into that," he said.

Stephen said he never directly supervised the deputy. He accused her of trying to deflect attention from her own legal troubles. "She's trying to save her own skin," he said. "She's trying to lash out and see what sticks."

Williams, the retired chief, told The Times that he has not been interviewed by investigators. He said he never supervised the alleged victim, and that although he is her "partial friend," the relationship is platonic.

"She never was assigned to my division. How could I coerce her to do anything?" said Williams, who left the department four years ago.

Wow! This site seems to attract people who thrive on gossip and rumors. As for the comment made by "Public safety allert" releasing the possible name of the "other" officer, I find this disturbing especially coming from someone who can't spell ALERT. These are people's lives. I am very concerned about public safety, but I thought everyone was innocent until proven guilty. Serious allegations have been made regarding this officer and an investigation has to take place. If you have ever been familiar with public figures and servants you would know that allegations are made frequently (i.e.:use of force, false arrest, lack of probable cause, speed traps, illegal searches) and most are unfounded. We need to deal with facts!
As for Lt. Camacho, an investigation is taking place and he needs to be made to follow protocol and be placed on Leave. It seems the Chief has trouble following policies consistantly.

Everyone has to remember that there are two sides to each story. We were not there when these events happened. It takes time for an investigation to be completed.

It seems to me that these negative comments are being made from someone who has a personal agenda. Why do I think this??? Well, the comments that are being made are from someone who has first hand knowledge of both men. How else would they know about the officers and their families. Any smart individual has to see that its coming from a disgruntle employee inside the police department.
