The Mercedes did not kill the little boy. Can we be a little more accurate in our headlines?

The Mercedes killed the boy? No, the DRIVER, who the Daily News chooses not to identify, killed the boy. Cars don't kill people, people kill people!

Where is your reading ability. The little boy ran into the Mercedes not the other way around. The little boy's daddy is responsible for buying this kid a scooter he should not have had!

Is doing 50 mph or over on a small residential street (25mph) legal..???
pull your head out of you know where... a driver has a duty above and beyond that of a 9 year old boy... your actions are compared to that of a reasonable person of the same age.. people who drive down this street know that a grammar school is two blocks down and there are two parks with in the same distance.. think before you type! an edjucated response is more valuable than diarrhea of the brain...

Did anyone at the Daily News proofread this writer's story? Which is it? the boy collided with the Mercedes, or the Mercedes killed the boy? If the boy collided with a wall we would not say the wall killed the boy...

I must have missed the part where the car was going 50mph...also if this scooter had a motor, or the kid had a helmet??????? Maybe this was like giving your kid a go cart & letting them drive on the 405!

Please! I knew this little boy. He played with my nephews all the time....who live in the neighborhood where this occurred. He was sweet and kind, he was a wonderful child. He was very helpful. He used to help us carry groceries into my brother's home, would eat pizza with my family; he was very kind.....

I know the area.... Do you? People speed on Temple (little Temple)... They use it as a Thoroughfare! Its a small street that is used by people who want to avoid the traffic on Amar & Grand

Yes, the Rich people who live up on the hill behind Westhoff Elem. off Country Hollow do speed on this road all the time, the MSAC college students speed, and others do speed and are not cautious about who is around.... This is a quiet neighborhood. Yet, every now and again.... someone disrupts the peaceful environment! There are two parks and a school nearby!

It was Superbowl Sunday?? Did the cops check this driver for alcohol? No. My family was at the location just after it happened...... Poor Mauricio...may God Bless your soul.... you were robbed of a wonderful life.... There are a lot more facts that we as neighbors, and regular visitors know.... We have personal knowledge and facts which we have been ask not to disclose!

The driver is at fault....in my opinion.
What's more important? Trying to get to a SuperBowl Party or driving in a responsible safe manner.....

Stop USING OUR NEIGHBORHOOD as a Short CUT to the TOP OF THE HILL.....

it is a violation of statute... the intent of the statute (25 mph in residential areas) was to protect the class of people (children playing in residential neighborhoods) from this type of injury (getting hit by speeding cars). Simple negligence 101.
Therefore, we could say, that a court may find that a negligent speeding motorist killed a boy... the mercedes is not important, I guess unless you own one and feel offended or are jealous of people that drive them..

When I was a kid my parents constantly warned "DON'T EVER PLAY IN THE STREET". Too many parents in the barrios of L.A. don't supervise or teach their children these things and never want to take their share of responsibility when something tragic happens. If the cars are speeding on the street, as some have stated, that's all the more reason for them to keep their kids out of the street.

YOU HAVE THE FACTS WRONG... WALNUT IS A "CITY"....L.A. IS A "BARRIO" OR "GHETTO!"

Regardless of what you want to call your "city", the same irresponsible parents who won't teach there children common sense and are quick to blame others for their lack of parenting skills seem to reside there. This kid should have been told to run his scooter on the sidewalk...not in the street.
