Nutley taxes are amongst the highest in the state. Nutley schools don't even place in the top 75. Nutley teachers certainly deserve scrutiny along with the administration and the school board. As indicated in the recent NY Times article on 'Building Better Teachers', it's not necessarily the kids, it's the process, and the people skills of the teachers that make the difference, and this needs to be backed by the community. Maybe all of those smart teachers could find a way to fight for what's right for kids other then their own.
In a mile square town where virtually every employee has a vehicle of one sort or another, and we have 30-40 police vehicles (Fewer than four ever seen on the Street at one time except in a parade), there may be some excess spending. In a town where local fire hero's agree in the year that the country is facing a depression to take '0' raises in exchange for 10% raises in each of the next 3 years, you've got to wonder who's in charge.......a 30% salary increase.....could that have something to do with jacking up pensions in the 3 years before retirement? It used to be that 7 cops, a fire chief, and a couple of clerks could handle the job. I guess the quality of the workers has gone down. Hiring for political favor seems to have been rampant for the past 30 years.....and jacking up employee counts increases the cash flow and diversion opportunities in every department. Accountability and disclosure should be the order of the day......even though it may take years to make up for sins of the past.....pensions and retirement benefits for the relatives and friends of those who have been on a hiring bing will cost the taxpayers a lot.

Keep letting the pols rob you and you get what you get.Our newest commissioner Rogers came into office as a small gov less spending platform.
Then went on to spend more taxpayer money than any other commissioner.
Get rid of this lier.

Forgot to mention.Mr Rogers the big spender collects not one but two taxpayer funded pensions as he wastes our money on his family and friends.

At the May 6, 2014 BOC meeting Mr. Evans stated that his land assessment 'DID NOT' change. However, according to the Essex County tax records, it 'DID' change. hmm. Who do YOU believe?
