PS: Nobody said they were "overpaid" as you suggest, SEIU. They are compensated according to the market as SEIU has agreed.

What gets me is that anyone in the school administration, or any town employees for that matter, could receive pay increases next year. Even if you operate under the assumption that these people are the best at what they do (big assumption but just go with it for now) it takes a lot of nerve on their part (and Ken Flatto's part with respect to the townside budget) to be requesting any raises. They are already compensated very well, especially Dr. Clark. Meanwhile the economy continues to sink, people are out of work, making less money, etc. It really ticks me off that they don't demonstrate that they see this by foregoing raises for one year and getting by on their already inflated salaries. Could they at least dio that?

Don't worry. The Board of Finance is the finacial firewall in town on all this. They'll hold lots of meetings and then claim they did everything in their power to hold the line on taxing and spending. Since this is a tough year they are even holding extra meetings. One meeting will even be at the Senior Center that cloud have been a school. The extra meetings will help justify the tax increase. And when it's all done, they'll pat themselves on the back

The Board of Finance does whatever Little Skippy Boy Flatto tells them, especially since Little Skippy Boy got the Board of Finance chairman a job at Technology Marketing Corp. which I heard he recently left. Maybe Little Skippy Boy got him another job somewhere else!
Bottom line, though, is this is Ken Little Skippy Boy Flatto's budget, and it's just like Little Skippy Boy and his Kool-Aid drinking supporters to blame other people for tax increases. A lot of other towns and cities are coming in with a ZERO percent tax increase - and they, unlike Flatto, didn't promise a ZERO percent tax increase before the last election.
But that's Skippy Boy Flatto for you - promise the moon when you're out schlepping and lying your head off for votes and then screw the taxpayer once you're in office.
Why didn't you enforce the tri-party agreement against Black Rock Realty, Ken? Excellent letter by Jeanne Konecny in today's Fairfield Minuteman questioning why Flatto is so silent about this.
Kind of reminds me of the time Little Skippy Boy was silent about the renovations at Tomlinson Middle School going overbudget and behind schedule - because his son got a lucrative internship at the construction company doing the renovation and Little Skippy Boy had his home renovated by the father of an executive in the construction company!
What did Black Rock Realty do for you, Little Skippy Boy? Stop fidgeting with the knot in your tie and answer the question!

You don't think Tetreau wil be any better do you? And Janotta out of Blumenthal's office just means more gravy for the unions.

I think Tetreau would be a lot better. At least Tetreau doesn't break the law. And Jannotta likewise would be a lot better. We need a first selectman who obeys the law, and Flatto revealed himself to be a criminal within a month of taking office. Yes, Ken, for the final time, stealing gasoline from the Fairfield Police Department is a crime, regardless of whether you were arrested for it.
And let's have someone at ConPost look into Flatto's home renovation - done by the father of an executive at the construction company that was doing $200 million worth of work for the town. Yeah, I'm sure ConPost will get right on that - I only informed ConPost's City editor about it three years ago!

Ask around about Tetreau and the finances at Pop Warner football. He'd be worse than Kenny and that is not easy to do.

Unless Tetreau flushed $42 million of money that wasn't his down the toilet like Flatto did, I highly doubt he would be worse than Flatto.
The truth is, Flatto could do this town a huge favor by going on vacation until his current (and last) term is finally over. At least we'd be spared from any more of his reckless and irresponsible mismanagement of town finances, his chronic lying, his wishy-washy, Alfred J. Prufrock style of "leadership" and his violation of state and local laws.

Talking about taxpayers getting hit hard; there is an article in the Meriden RJ today 3/19 about the Southington Police Department: these cops now get 75 days of sick time a year. Yeah, you read that right. Seventy five days!!!!!! Anybody else get benefits like this. I'm just wondering what their vacation benefits look like.
