this is news? These public "servants" have always used the ridiculous argument that their pay needs to keep pace with other "servants" doing the same job. Never is competence, experience, or results taken into consideration, they just keep soaking the taxpayer and lining their pockets. There was a time when public service meant sacrificing what one could earn in the private sector to help the community, but those days are gone. Today they want the same pay and no real accountability, but with the added benefit of job security....and the cycle goes on and on. If they need more money to keep pace with their fat salaries, just raise taxes! Oh Mr. Richitelli....come now. They all run for office with the sole purpose of getting to higher office....ever notice how many millionaires we have in government??? Guess the money just materializes.

Binding arbitration must be halted in our state!

I am so very tired of hearing "if we don't give them big money they will go to the private sector". FINE. GO. GOOD LUCK TO YOU! There are plenty of others (some with actual business sense who can manage budgets without just asking for more funding) who would gratefully step in to those positions.

It's time for a revolution. TAKE BACK OUR TAX DOLLARS!

Good article and I appreciate the searchable salary data.

Will someone please explain to me why these people get paid all this money?? What do they do to warrant such a HUGE salary?

We all know that there is no answer to that...

You hit the nail on the head. Every state that the democrats control is in financial straights.

Not included in this article are all the "freebies" that corrupt first selectmen and mayors like Ken Flatto help themselves to. If Flatto had to pay for all the "freebies" he steals from taxpayers, his salary would have to be a lot higher to maintain his standard of living.
But when the cops aren't going to arrest you for stealing, why bother stopping, right, Ken?
P.S. The dye job on your hair looks really good in that photo. I can see why you use it for your publicity shot!

So why is it then the BOE "agreed" to give the already below poverty paraprofessionals only a 2.9% increase? How can Clark, Boyle, Fitzgerald, Rosato and the countless others sleep at night? Where are the rest of the Town of Fairfield's administrators on this list? Not one of them makes less than 150K. Why are these people making so much money? "It's Fairfield?" Then why aren't the people who provide support that are directly involved with students allowed the luxury of a decent wage? Too bad. Leave. That's what the BOE in Fairfield tells their employee's but they hire lawyers, at $350 per hour just to tell them. And then to bully them "due to the economy" is an added bonus. WASTE!

Per student ratio is an interesting way to break it all down. I wonder how much all the kitchen workers, computer support, custodians/maintenance and paraprofessionals get "per student." The buildings keep getting more students, more equipment, more special ed students. Teachers have a class size number, but all students are supported in all the buildings all the time by the support staff! Think about it! But hey, if you don't like it, leave. That's Fairfield.

Accountability and personal responsibility does not apply to educators (and I use that term "educators" loosely). Overbloated administrative budgets and lack of accountabilitys are taxing us to death at all levels of government. Also ESL is a FAILURE!!!

I hope this is an eye opener for those elected officials who voted year after year to increase the salaries of Ann Clark and those School Administrators. Because one is "well liked" or "doing a terrific job" no longer are valid reasons for the increase in this time of economic crisis. One can always use that argument for the paraprofessional and other support staff in the school system as well. Fair is fair and when most people are being laid off or forced to take pay cuts, I can't see why we could not ask the same from the Board of Ed. Superintendent and her administrative staff. Limiting the increase to 3% and sighting that it is now the lowest increase in so many years does not really fly anymore. They need to be realistic and we need to keep them honest!

There is an election this November. Vote out the incumbenents whoever they are. All of them on the Board of Education, regardles of party affiliation, keep giving these ridiculous increases to these buffoons including Doctor Clark.

And binding arbitration is a red herring when it comes to the administrators union. No self respecting arbitrator would pamper these people they way Dr. Clark demands the Board pamper them. Clark just pumps up their pay so she can pump up hers. She should go back to Canada where she came from.

Get your facts straight, SEIU stooge. The paras only work part of the year. They aren't paid below poverty level. They are just paid less than what surrounding towns pay paras during the school year. They also get a sweet benefits package on top of their base pay.

And at the end of the day, the para jobs get filled with competent people. That's "the market" as they like to say in educationland. Just because everybody else in the school system is overpaid doesn't mean the paras should be overpaid too, SEIU.

…what is SEIU? Union? Doesn’t make a difference here.

Overpaid? Overpaid? How about making enough per week so at the end of the year you aren't paying back your employer just to cover health care costs? How about making enough to include your family to your health care so everyone gets insurance? How about families that cannot afford to do that? In FAIRFIELD!

Per hour. Tony the Tiger. You speak of working 10 months. Regardless of the amount of days worked, figure it out per hour. If Doctor Clark is the highest paid in the region, why are there the lowest paid support personnel in the region in her buildings? Support personnel are not paid well in Fairfield compared to the surrounding towns. Accountability is what should be demanded. There needs to be someone somewhere that can see the indifference happening in Fairfield's School System. It’s not a Union "thing." It's a people "thing." What's right and what's wrong.

It takes a village. Vote them out!

The union, SEIU, accepted the deal. They knew if they went to binding arb they'd lose. The fact that Clark is overpaid and lazy is another issue.

Let me know who you support. I won't vote for them. I only vote for people who think logically.
