Here they go again, someone from outside the fd making decisions on what is BEST for them. I just hope things turn out better with this mess than the new firehouse. Talk about fiscal mis-management!!

"... the report claimed Cybart was guilty of misconduct and policy violations for appointing fire Lt. Robert Spiegel to the bid review committee, even though the former chief allegedly knew Spiegel had a 'direct conflict of interest' as a part-time mechanic at New England Fire Equipment.

Cybart has strongly denied the report's allegations.'I have said all along all I want is a hearing to prove I was not at fault in this matter.' But a February disciplinary hearing for Cybart was cancelled after the former chief was granted a disability pension."

How convenient.

So The men actually were saving the town money...hmmm and they wanted them to get fired and the town wasted money from the taxpayers on the research and bullsh*t...When all along they should of been praised for keeping the money in the State of CT,purchasing closer if there is problems with the truck and cheaper. Now he wants to spend more on top of that??

It's time for Stratford to speak up and vote him out!!!How much more can we take of this from the Mayor.Stop wasting money and paying his wages(the Mayor salary) and buy the truck locally. We need to vote for a TOWN MANAGER AGAIN--that's what worked best for Stratford before and do away with a MAYOR!!!

Let's see if we have this straight:

Mayor Moron refuses to provide the Council with bid documentation for the contract to B&L Company for the report on the Shakespeare Theater, the contract for the Bunnell High School Athletic Field, the acquisition of Smart Cars, and the acquisition of investigative services by Tolomeo and Laske. He also refuses to provide the documentation on the contract for the new granite curbs.

Then he claims Cybart committed "improprieties"? And now he wants $600K for a new firetruck?

How dumb does he think this Council is?

Wait a minute! Don't answer that....I know, I know.

What are they buying, a fire truck or lots of equipment?

By loading up the truck with non-truck related equipment instead of bidding out the equipment seperatly, they have inflated the price.

It was approved to purchase a firetruck, not all the goodies the FD wants. This should go to the council!

This is a great start for the new fire chief!

So let me see if I have this right. The former chief appoints people to a committee that he feels are the most qualified to do whats best for the Department, the safety of the Firefighters, and whats the most cost effective for the town and the new mayor wants them all brought to the town green and hold a public linching. By doing his job, the Chief has been basically forced out, and a extremely qualified Lieutenant has had his name and reputation dragged through the mud...WHY ????...something doesnt sound right to me....Was the mayor and his group of henchmen looking for a handout that wasnt there???.....IF the mayor had a clue, and did his research, he would have realized that after the bid openings such as this there are always give and takes to fine tune the item you are purchasing, like this truck. The department is not trying to buy a copy machine, where all costs are cut and dry! there is absolutly no way that every single nut and bolt can be accounted for on a truck purchase. Every minor change that is made costs money. For anyone involved in the bidding process of fire apparatus they know this is not something out of the norm. Bottom line, let the Fire Chief and the Firefighters do whats best for the town and its citizens. Im sure the Chief isnt sitting in the mayors office telling him what to do! I hope all goes well for the department in the purchase of the truck.......

Maybe the firetrucks would break-down/need to be replaced to often if they weren't used to drive to Vazzy's EVERY night!!! I honestly can't think of the last night that I did NOt see a firetruck parked there. I don't know about you, but $600+k for pizza delivery seems a little steep to me!!!

Gee, there are 20+ firefighters that eat everyday, at the four different stations, do ya think they get hungry?
Just another thought, first why are you there every night, weight? and if you have that much money to blow maybe you can pitch in a little to help with the new fire truck. Remember your health!!!!

Why did the Town and FD hire a consultant to review the bids? Shouldn't the Town and FD review the bids and make the decision?

Plus, they should be bidding for the vehicle and equipment separately to save money.

As for the firetrucks going to Vazzy's - I've always wondered the same thing since the new Fire HQ has a commercial grade kitchen in it that they can cook in. Maybe the chief can go pick up the dinners for each station instead of the huge fire truck going.

Look we work 2nights and 2 days most time we cook we also do oyur shopping in town (support the local grocers) But now and then we prefer to eat out again supporting the local restaraunts. There are 4 stations with 22 firefighters if you figure each one spends 5 bucks on a meal we do alot for the townwide economy.on top of the fact we take the trucks so the crews stay together for our safety as well as the towns people, But for tme most part some of you are going to bash us no matter what we do. And for the record Hq is the only station with a commer. stove it was thought that because the bldg is the town Eoc and during emergency's there could be up to 20 or more people along with the firefighters statined there it was a good idea.

The first mistake is taking Sudds seriously. No one really cares how often or where you guys eat.

The problem is that no matter what this mayor claims, no one believes him anymore.

I heard his deal was with lightbars, radios and bodywork and anything else he could get his hands on.

Tread carefully. Ferrara Fire and it's owner, Chris Ferrara, are involved in numerous lawsuits that may end up with substantial judgments against them and could affect the company's ability to fulfill orders. Although complicated to find, the various lawsuits with other municipalities and companies indicate Ferrara is becoming increasingly litigious in order to get out of his obligations.
