In what dictionary do you find a definition? Now, I am familiar with besmirch. Is that the word you were trying to use?

The "define" function in google yields no results for besmudge, nor is it in my spell check dictionary.

If you Google the word it tells that it is a made up word, that is used frequently. It is a made up word, and no I did'nt make it up, somebody else did. If you Google and scroll down, you will see it used in many different sentences and contexts. To besmudge someone means to tarnish them, or cast them in a negative light. Hope that helps.

What the hell? My dad was there fishing when he drowned. We couldn't believe it. I agree with the fellow up there. How the hell could a grown man drown in the Wabash? We swim there a lot, have been for years. Hell, we even lay back and float down the river for a little bit, it's relaxing. Hope he doesn't ruin swimming there for everyone else.

Yeah, I dock the boat on a few sandbars and swim there, not where you're talking about, though. We have a campsite up river. In the summer, you can touch the bottom when it hasn't rained for a few weeks. I do feel bad for the guy, but I'm still trying to understand. Before you go swimming in a river, you have to know about currents. If you're in the current, swim at an angle until you reach the bank. Don't freak out and try to swim directly across, that's just ignorance. Maybe after this, people will actually think before they get in there. Just makes me angry when hearing stuff like this, we've been on the river for a decade, nothing ever happens like this. Only takes one person to put a mark on the record.

I just can't believe we are talking about his Ex-wife and now I can see why he left her and got the childrens. Someone has a sick mind to be talking about the dead the way you do. I no you think your perfect, but just go and look in the mirror and see what other people see when they look at you. shame shame on you. May God have Mercy on you when you die. You are going to die. Unless you have a 21 year olds foot on your head...classy as this couple and situation seem, I would look into foul play, she loured him out there and drown him. For the social security she was SURE to get, make one trip to the bank to cash your checks at the first of the month hun, save on gas.
How is she getting any social security if they aren't married?
Hello?
Half of you people have obviously never lost a loved one in your life. None of us are perfect, life throws us all kinds of challenges and people are allowed to change their ways. So what she was 21 and he was 35...historically speaking the age gap between men and women has been far greater.
Frankly I didn't know any of these people, but anyone with a heart beating in their chest can feel for the kids who will not grow up with a father-one who obviously cared enough about them to take them out for a day of fun.
No one lives a perfect life, so all of you people in glass houses shouldn't be throwing stones at anyone. You are obviously too afraid to look at your own imperfections and sad little lives so you come her to berate total strangers. Congratulations on your limited success.

Even if they weren't married, if she can prove (possibly through DNA) that he is the father of the child, the child could be eligible for survivor's benefits until HS graduation or age 18. I say "could" because it depends upon whether or not the father worked long enough in jobs covered by the Social Security system. At his age, he probably did. The children born of his first marriage will also be eligible for benefits.

If she isn't working (or has a low income) and is caring for the child, she could also qualify for benefits.

I think the family was stupid to go into a river when they didn't know how to swim, but I hope this woman does research the benefits she is entitled to get on behalf of the child. The children don't deserve to suffer because of the bad choices of the parents. In addition, by working under the Social Security system, dad earned those benefits for his children.

There is info at http://www.ssa.gov on survivor's benefits

A dead man who abused women and was an alcoholic deserves no pity

Another idiot drown in almost the exact same spot on Saturday night. 4 went overboard, only 3 made it to the side. I don't think they've found him yet.

What the hell? We jump out of the boat in the middle of the river and take a swim if it gets too hot, why are these people failing to live? Doesn't make any sense.
Like I said before, know a river before you go on the river, especially at night.

What are you saying? Tormenting my ex-wife is a sport for me. Turning the children against her is a sport that I am winning.
I will do anything it tales to try to make her kill herself so she can't collect my retirement. Women....are pigs. And my dead mother....good riddance!! Got her money!! LMAO
