So you do not have to have any qualifications or certifications to hold any of those important leadership offices?

whine and moan thats all you ever do. a certification teaches you enough to get your stupid ass killed. are they good yes they give you a base to build on. are they bad yes they give you a false sense that you know what the hell your doing.Should people strive to learn and better themselves yes everyday. but exper. will also play a big factor as to what happens on a fire scene.this debate can be fought all day with hundreds of pros and cons. im tired of hearing all the negative feed back on the fire dept. every one has room for imporvment. dont throw stones when you leave in a glass house

well jackass i will have you know i hold as many certifications as any city fire department fire fighter.you want exper. i have that also. be more than happy to walk to the gates of hell in a house fire with any dumbass who thinks they have what it takes.it is about a combination of exper. and training. that is what makes a great firefighter.i have seen both sides of the coin. wise up before some one gets hurt in a house fire with that false sense of security.

Yes. we do have certifications - many hours of class ((all year round)). And no - you do not just get exper for being in the Dept.....hello!!....you have to have all kinds of certifications....So stop the crap, know what you are talking about before you fall over your dumb ass.

I am suprised to hear any firefighter refer to certifications as something that teaches you enough to get your stupid a** killed. As a fire service Instructor that is a slap in the face. Anyone who thinks that way is not a fire service professional that is interested in teaching the next generation. That sounds like someone who is insecure with theirself and their knowledge base.

Firefighter certification classes actually do the opposite and teach students how to avoid getting theirselves into a situation that could result in loosing their life. All I can say is I sincerely hope that you are not in any kind of leadership role at your department. If so I feel sorry for your subordinates.

I bet truth be known, you don't know your ass from a hole in the ground, and you obviously don't have a certification. I doubt you have 20 years in any kind of service. I bet you cuss out all who disagree with you.....that probably narrows down your idenity

Why in the world does everyone feel the need to down this department. No department paid or volunteer is perfect. You have guys trying to take this place in the right direction. Leave them alone let them do their job before you discourage the ones who make a difference and they just up and leave. Rome wasn't built in a day and this fire department won't be put on the right track in one day. Give it time things are turning around. You could put 20 new members in and six months from now they will still be working out all the bugs.Remember the old saying good things come to those who wait. Things didn't go wrong over night so how can you expect them to be fixed that quick. I really wish a magic wand could be waved and **poof** all the issue's go away, but it ain't going to happen like that. So get behind them support them steer them in the right direction. If you feel you can help do so but don't put down the people who are working to make Walnut Cove Fire Department run to full potential.

The thing is and you of all people know it, Things and people are not going to change for the better when there is no leadership at the top, and all you get is cussed for your volunteering. And cussed for trying to improve yourself and the dept. We have been fighting to improve as a dept. for how many years now????? we are not any further along now than 5 years ago.
