All I can say to this is that it is about time someone stands up to Randy Pope! His time of being able to do and say what he pleases needs to come to an end or our fair parish will have to suffer! Thank you ACLU for standing up for what is right and taking Mr Pope down a notch or two!!

I've posted a couple of threads about our fair parishes school board. No one seems to be interested in what is going on with the school system, or doesn't believe me. To start off, I work for the school board, i'm a support worker, and I see how these couple of people try to bully everyone around! Starting from the top, Randy Pope, thinks he can do anything he wants! With the backing of the five school board members who allow him to do and say anything he wants, he walks around and like he is something so special and says anything he wants. This includes saying he would never propose another raise for these s o b's. This was following the board meeting on August 3rd, 2006! This is the type of leadership that our kids are being shown and tought. Let me get back to the board memebers before I close this thread. There are several members of the board that just sit back and say nothing at all about what goes on with our kids. The committe meeting Thursday night was about pay increase. Mr Pope proposed to match all state raises with local funds except for the support personal! He seems to think that we are only worth a 15 cent and hour raise! This isn't very fair in my eyes, when he and his wife will end up the over 10 thousand dollars in raises out of this proposal! After his proposel, only two or three board members expressed concerns about what Mr Pope had proposed, David Tate,Julius Prokop, and Keith Martin. My hat goes off to these men! They took up for us while Randy Pope screamed at us and during the whole board member! While Malcolm Sibley and others sat around and did nothing! I encourage your input on this topic because it hits home for many people in our parish.

I can tell you that Live Oak High is trying t expel my child after two kids started a rumor and the administration backed them up and tried for 2 hours to get my child to confess. I tried to talk to Mr. Pope before they recommended expulsion. I got no where. I am not a Livingston Parish native and will not stand for this.
THE ACLU has been notified again and I can assure you that I will not sit back and allow this to happen. I will take this to court. they cannot treat kids this way while they go around doing what they please. I have done some investigation and you would be surprized where the money actually goes. The best school system around? HUH go to anotherr state if you want honest administration. I will not stand for this kind of coruption. why is his wife even allowed to work there? THere ought to be a nepotism clause. as for the school board. VOTE THEM OUT.

Can you keep us posted on the suit? I'd love to know how it turns out, even if it's just links to news articles.

I totally agree with you, if the whites wanted to have a float based on the color of their skin, it would be hell to pay. This is the fault of the principle of Live Oak High School, she was the one that allowed this to happen. The people of this parish should be outraged....It's not right to start that kind of racism here when we've welcomed the colored into this parish. She should be fired for this.....

You need to know what you're talking about before you try to make arguments you think are legit. The kids were allowed to enter their own floats in the parade and I'm pretty sure they had to fill out a form saying they were. There were more than a couple floats that had only white kids on it, but I guess that's ok right? There was no problem with their float. Basically every float you saw in the parade was worked on at school, so again, there's goes another part of your argument. Let me say this again: ANY group of kids at that school could have entered a float in the parade, white, black, purple, yellow....color didn't matter. It was about the students having a good time with their friends and obviously this particular set of students upset you due to their skin color.

Stop trying to make something out of nothing and grow up. This isn't the 50's/60's my friend. Blacks don't need to be "welcomed" into this parish by any means. The idea that another race actually needs to be welcomed into this parish is pathetic and again, makes it seems like some of you are trying to live in the past. Grow up, move on, and please learn how to type if you're going to try and make sound arguments.
And just for the record, I'm a recent Live Oak graduate who happens to be white. I feel the need to make this known because I'm sure you would've thought the opposite.

well why was it that some white students who were friends of the the black students were told that they could not ride with them because they were white.this friend is racism. skin color is always the problem when something like this happens. white or black we just want the same rights that other races are getting. the white students cant dictate weather or not a black or any other race is allowed to join school activities so why should they.but the black students were to given that authority to segregate themselves from the other students.
