I myself am a bike rider and I have noticed that this state does not enforce a helmet law. I am orinally from Tennessee and they enforce the helmet law there. I think this should be the law every where I do not know if this young man was wearing a helmet or not but if he was the turn out might have been different. I know that helmets save lives because one saved mine.

"My Brother RJ was an outstanding young man. Such a loving person. We never understand the reason things happen, but i know he's in a better place. I love my brother and miss him so much. He touch so many lives and accomplished so many goals. "He was my role model" He always had a that smile on his face. Life is a wonderful thing and so many of us take it as a joke. We will never the day or the hour. But i would ask you do you know Jesus. I know RJ did! and if you don't, my beloved seek him. If he knock at your heart let him in before it's to late.
May God bless you all that read this comment. "RJ" we will meet again, tears of joy.

Karate, your heart is in the right place, but please save the prosthelytizing for private. It distracts from people's wonderful memories of RJ and instead focuses on your own notions of religion. It suggests that all others in this world who do not share your religious beliefs are doomed to hell, which is the most absurd statement that anyone can make.

This is about RJ's life, not your agenda or that of your church.

Well, I look at it this way - I am sorry Tennessee takes away motorcyclist's right to choose. And, if you think our rights should be taken away and you like the TN enforcement, I say move back to TN. I like the fact that I have a right to make the choice to wear a helmet, or not. And, sometimes I make the choice to wear one. It depends on how I feel that day, the weather conditions, traffic conditions etc. But, at least I HAVE the right to make that decision. And, I also know that my donning my helmet - it won't necessarily save my life - that is a total misconception.

I am surprised to note the article does not say if this young man was wearing a helmet or not. As they are very quick to point out if someone was not wearing a helmet, I presumed the young man WAS wearing a helmet. And, that presumption was vindicated by a few other posters. So, you see, wearing a helmet does not always save your life. I am happy for you that yours did but please know that it doesn't always work that way.

With that said, my condolences to the family.

Ok, that was a little rude. He is giving his brother praises, what's wrong with that. If you dont like the religion part then skip over it. It's not at all distracting

I think it was rude of him. He's exploiting the death of his beloved family member so that he can promote his religion.

This shouldn't distract from our memories of RJ. I lived in NE Richland county knew him, as well. Let's lay this down and continue with our fond memories. It's a real loss to the world, to his family, and to his community.

It saddens me that anyone, for any reason, would hijack this forum to post self-indulgent, unrelated commentary. No one reading this story is concerned with motorcycle laws or individuals' lack of interest in each others' faith.

That being said, we love you and miss you, little brother. Even though you didn't reach what we all knew was your full potential, you've left an impression that will surely inspire everyone who met you to work harder and be better in all aspects of their lives.
