Huge house fire in Bayshore
#1 May 9, 2007
Yes, the fire was started from an untended burnpile. Probably was not put out properly and the wind helped it take off. I was staying only 3 houses down from the first house to burn and there is nothing left of it but charred framing. The 2nd house caught fire and left only one house between my rental and the fire. We had to evacuate our house as the wind was blowing so hard we weren't sure if the 3rd house would catch fire or not. I have to say, the locals who are permanent residents in that area were spectacular! One allowed us to park our cars (filled with all our belongings and dogs) in their driveway and gave us the use of their bathroom. Another kind lady offered us hot tea while we waited to see if we could get back into our house. Then the owner of our house showed up and offered us another rental up the street FAR away from the fire. She was awesome! I have fire video if anyone is interested.
