The Surge worked in Iraq? When did we win that war? Last I heard, Americans are still dying there. I guess I just gotta start watching Fox News.
Since you asked, we won the Irag war about a year ago. It was about the time the surge was ending. No peace treaty was signed as the enemy we faught are cowards and with no dignity.

The other sign I saw that the Irag war was over happended when the death toll in Chicago exceeded Bagdad on a regular basis.

Glenn Johansen of Kailua-Kona has obviously never been in leadership position that could put people's lives at stake, perfectly explaining their inability to understand why President Obama is taking time to make the right decision for Afghanistan. Yes, armchair quarterbacks mistakenly think they run the world, thinking George W. Bush made the right decisions. What shibai, senior and junior Bush never did have a clue about how the economy works, which is why they left us soooo much national debt. Ahhh, another day in the Nei.
Islandboi, Congress is in charge of the spending, not the President. BTW, Chris Dodd and Barney Frank and the ones to blame for the huge bust we experienced.

unfortunately, the elderly seem to make up a disproportionate portion of pedestrians involved in such accidents.
i think part of the problem lies in that there are few crossing lights and crosswalks on some stretches of king street, particularly N. King by Liliha and Tamashiro market.
rather than trek down to the nearest crosswalk or light, the elderly choose to jaywalk across like four or five lanes of traffic, against the lights in some cases to get to the nearest bus stop.
i can appreciate the fact that they are elderly, and maybe the walk to the nearest light is too far for them, or too far away from the bus stop on the other side of the road, but they just don't have the speed or dexterity to run across traffic, and often just dart or step into traffic.
sometimes cars have to come to a screeching halt and stop in time, but more often than not, it's a close call or the elderly pedestrian will be involved in an accident.
HPD sees this all the time, but makes no effort to stop the jaywalker. if nobody lets them know what they are doing is wrong or dangerous (assuming they don't already know, or care) then they will likely to continue to do so until something bad happens.
You bring up another good point. Rarely do I see any elderly person startled when they're crossing a street and a vehicle zooms past them.

The only time I see them really taking precautions is when they're crossing with their grandchildren.

lol! So you're saying Bush ended the conflict in Iraq before he left office?!?!

Gee that's funny. I don't recall hearing him say that. I don't recall hearing Cheney say that. Nor Gates.

If you think the Iraqis fought as cowards and no diginity (ie... honor), keep in mind that's what the British thought of the American Revolutionaries.

lol! No, Phil Gramm and GLB have a very big stake in that debacle. Along with deregulation and the likes of Worldcom, Enron and others.

How many spending bills under a majority GOP congress, under a GOP President did the so called fiscally conservative party veto?

"Pigs at the trough!" And that's what the GOP members called themselves.

That's right Pau!

"Pigs at the trough is a term reserved for my little donkeys.

When it comes to spending taxpayer dough, we are the undisputed champions, and proud of it.

Dan In-no-way the great American that he is, often brags about being the biggest pig of all and we love him for that.

You Republicans need to go back to your "save, Invest, and grow" supply side economics, and leave to Oinking to the experts. Hopey, Changey, Oinkey........xoxo Joe "Pluggsy" O'Biden.
