Plain old no-class BS from a rail thug. To say that rail is about helping people on Oahu is a joke. The only helpful thing rail does is offer union jobs in the short run. And in the long run, it creates just another costly, wasteful, tax-sucking beaurocracy.

Build a six lane freeway if you want to create jobs. People are not going to give up their cars.

Cities all over the country?? What's the actual number of comparable commuter rail systems in the USA? Cities all over the world? How many of their commuter rail syatems were built from scratch, with no previous tracks, and no connecting rail system? How many on elevated structures rising over existing neighborhoods and open landscapes? How many are on a remote Pacific island with a radius of 30 miles, which depends heavily on scenic beauty for it's livelihood? How many cost billions of dollars for one small leg and had almost no real potential ridership?

Hawaii people aren't difficult, they are too easy going. However, this Mayor and his cronies have gone too far in their rail greed. There's an economic crisis and we do not need or want a huge rail system sprawled over the island. It won't do much to help traffic congestion. It will do nothing to help tourism. Hawaii people have got to put on the brakes. This rail plan is wacko.

DA Rail! or Duh--- rail? Either way, this is an issue that is waking us all up and making us tink again about the way we are treated as TAX PAYERS,WHO ARE GOING TO FUND THIS IDIOCY whether your on oahu or big island. So good diss issue cuz once again people are getting involved and "speaking out" and becoming educated on how we are thought of or NOT thought of by the mayor, govenor and da machine. Keep up da issue,no give up!

Wow. Civil disobedience. Just like the Superferry protest. I heard some guys are going to get surfboards and sit on the place where the train track is going to go.

I've been to a few of these types of meetings in the past. All they are is a dog and pony show put up by the city to propagandize what a wonderful thing rail will be. NOT. Vote NO on the rail ballot question because rail will be and is already way too expensive for the taxpayers to afford.

Hooray, people are finally seeing what I have seen from the beginning. It is just a snow job. And to the people who are saying we need the jobs, I have a question for you. What will you do once it is built? Right now they are projecting 40 million a year to run muli mufi's rail (we all know that is what it really is) but at the beginning they stated that it would cost 20 million. So it seems that tacking on 10 mil. at a time is OK?? I don't think so. Where will this money come from? Taking away programs that help people will be one solution, another one will be higher taxes. I don't believe that a STEEL on STEEL will be 5 decibels lower than a bus. How, if the bus is rubber on asphalt, and the rail will be steel on steel? More of a SNOW JOB!!

Do you long for your old Betamax player? Grow wistful over the closure of buggy-whip factories? Excited by the prospect of massive, long-term state taxpayer debt being taken on in a time when all economic indicators are diving into hard times?

Then you will just LOVE this rail project! Rail us, baby, rail us!

First cost overuns! Honolulu taxpayers are spending over one MILLION dollars to figure out why the rail designers didn't allow space for surfboards.

WRONG, the first one happened a month ago. One contractor did not forsee a rise in the cost of steel, but ONLY A MILLION OR SO.

I'm NOT wrong, it's today's news, and there will be many more cost over-runs, for everything to do with the rail fiasco.

Rail is needed! Do not vote for Cayetano for mayor! I repeat, do not vote for Cayetano for mayor! Do you want to be stuck in gridlock for the next 50 years? NOW is the time to build rail for our keiki and their children!

Bus riders will ride the rail. No one else will. And it's costing us BILLIONS but liberals do not care, they aren't paying for it.

Light rail and BRT, infrastructure and locals FIRST--vote Cayetano Saturday! Heavy Rail is for the military, plain and simple. They need heavy, elevated tracks in order to haul those Strykers around the island during civil unrest, go read the emergency plan. The thugs who put up rail should be hunted down and jailed.

The strykers can drive anywhere they need to be, they did it during the 911 crisis.

Sure they can, over the wall to wall traffic jammed onto the highway? Rail is for military options go read the reports.

If they need to use the highway they will simply shut it down like they did after 9/11. The Interstate System is designed as a military-use highway in any emergency. That's why it's made of concrete, for the heavy tanks. It can also handle aircraft if the need arises. Our military can drive on the roads at high speed with their highway-friendly tracks, no need for rail on this island.

Most emergency scenarios for Oahu admit roads will be rendered impassable, close them all you want, won't change anything, maybe they'll trying towing cars to clear the way while taking sniper fire, yeah, that's a good plan.

Rail is for the Army, that's why light way and other, far better, public transportation options where discarded out of hand.

Vote Cayetano 2012 get the prosecutor after these folks and jail them and get our tax monies back.
