here is what I would do:

you have the answers right there. Look them up and find out what kind of soil they like. acid soil....etc. I would consult a specialist, and old time Japanese gardner. Have them come out and look at the soil. It should be dark and rich. You are probably lacking magnesium in your soil. That is what is needed to make stuff grow, along with other things. Do the fronds of palms go yellow? then you have problems with iron not being absorbed, etc. Drainage problems? etc...get a good company to assess the soil conditions, probably cost $75. Then use your tractors to dump out all the soil, advertise it as free dirt...then get a bunch of rich soil that is the right kind of soil for what you want to grow. I would research like crazy the soil ph, drainage type, etc., then contact a good grower and a good landscape company that they use to install amended dirt. You want rich dirt, not the cheap stuff that is full of hormones, vitamins, etc. That is usually what the public buys...the cheaper it is the better it sells and is crap. That dirt will kill things. Just go to the guys who specialize in growing what you want to grow. They can be very helpful. Also contact any clubs that grow what you want, they know a ton of stuff.

You are right there, you can grow anything you want. It is just a matter of things like magnesium which makes your fruit sweet with the right kind of sugar in it. Also check on manganese, read about that also. I can't remember which is which, but one of them will solve a lot of problems in anything you grow. So check both.

Also check your water Ph, chemicals in it. If fish can survive in it untreated for a couple of weeks it is good.

I think you are really close, just do the above and you will get there. Once you do you will have the best plants in town. I spent all day today dealing with plants/contractors/ sprinklers, etc.

Good luck!

I thought I could "fix" the soil myself with mulch. Now I'm thinking I was wrong because the mulch is made of local plants, grown in lousy soil to begin with. DUUUH! I think I need a couple of trailer of mulch, then just pile it up and let it compost down all the way, maybe add some worms to it. I hate buying bagged chemicals from stores, just because it's so damn costly. I can buy an entire trailer load for the cost of four bags, IF I can find it. Last year I brought in a trailer of blood meal, as no fish meal was around. It was a waste of money.

Those crazy Mexicans. Now drug smugglers are using air-cannons to launch 85 lb. bags of dope over the US border fences along the Arizona border. I just hope we don't hear that Holder and Obama gave them the cannons.

sounds good...ask the local grower too and don't forget magnesium. I had a relative that was a gardner for 50 years here. He always said to sprinkle on a little magnesium on the soil around your fruit trees, makes the fruit much sweeter like it was in the old days. He used a small box of it...cost was nominal. He said on the big estates where he worked he would always use the mag on the soil on the trees he wanted to harvest the fruit and bring it home. All his customers would let him do it because they couldn't eat it all....so he had all the fruit he ever wanted year after year. White peaches, yellow peaches, you name it, he had it and it was better tasting than any store fruit.

Just google magnesium and manganese...I believe (99% sure) it was magnesium, but check it anyway if you want. All the gardners will know which it is too. If they don't they are no good. Japanese are the best ones.

Magnesium deficiency in soil

To get an accurate reading of any deficiency, the soil can be tested, but in the case of magnesium, the results are quite variable. Magnesium content can deteriorate quickly, especially during rain or watering. Magnesium is quite water-soluble and gets leached to the lower layers of the soil easily. It is brought back up by tree roots. It is therefore important to return the falling leaves to the topsoil.

Unless you live in an area where the dolomitic rocks is dissolve in the water, you can be pretty sure that magnesium would benefit your garden, especially if you are not adding tree leaves. Magnesium shortage is a real problem in most parts of the world. It is caused when we water or irrigate instead of growing what is natural for the climatic conditions. It causes a serious calcium metabolism problem in people and animals, because calcium cannot be used without magnesium.

Extreme magnesium deficiency is recognized by pale green leaves and by blossom and fruit rot, but don't wait for that. Sprinkle dolomite or epsom salt on the soil from time to time, or add a little epsom salt to the water. Using a little frequently is better than using a lot once, because the excess just gets leached.

Epsom salt recipe: Dissolve 2 tablespoons of Epsom salt in 1 gal. of water. For healthy nightshade plants (tomatoes, peppers, eggplants) water just as flowering starts. Or use this mixture as a foliage spray in the garden and on house plants.

Yes, about the hostages hidden in Canadian embassy for over 3 months. I did not care for the whiny, spineless hostages but a friend told me that is typical for embassy workers.

Number Of Nation's Sheriffs Refusing To Enforce Unconstitutional Gun Laws Snowballs

From Florida to California, a growing number of the nation's sheriffs are standing up to gun control measures proposed by both the administration and Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.).

Many law enforcement officials have written letters to President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden voicing their concerns over what they believe is an effort to infringe upon the Second Amendment.

In New Mexico, 30 of the state's 33 county sheriffs have reminded state lawmakers that they are under oath to support the U.S. Constitution, and that includes the Second Amendment.

CNSNews.com previously reported that 28 of the 29 sheriff's in Utah sent a letter to President Obama stating that they will not enforce any new gun laws they believe to be unconstitutional.

A host of Oregon sheriffs have said that they will not comply with any new unconstitutional gun regulations:

Sheriff Craig Zanni wrote, "I have and will continue to uphold my Oath of Office including supporting the Second Amendment," in a letter to Coos County citizens.
Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin said he would refuse to enforce any new Federal gun law he believes is unconstitutional.
In a letter to Vice President Joe Biden, Grant County Sheriff, Glenn Palmer writes: "I will not tolerate nor will I permit any federal incursion within the exterior boundaries of Grant County, Oregon, where any type of gun control legislation aimed at disarming law -abiding citizens is the goal or objective."
Sheriff Gil Gilbertson of Josephine County told Biden in a letter: "Any rule, regulation, or executive order repugnant to the constitutional rights of the citizens of this County will be ignored by this office."
Sheriff Tim Mueller of Linn County, Oregon says his department will not participate in any overreaching and unconstitutional federal firearms restrictions.

In California, Sheriff Adam Christianson of Stanislaus County wrote to the vice president: "I refuse to take firearms from law abiding citizens and will not turn law-abiding citizens into criminals by enforcing useless gun control legislation."

A letter sent to Sen. Dianne Feinstein from Sheriff Jon Lopey of Siskiyou County, California states: "Our founding fathers got it right and many politicians are getting it wrong."

In Missouri, Lawrence County Sheriff Brad Delay tells the president: "I will...rise to the defense and aid of all Americans should the federal government attempt to enact any legislation, or executive order that impedes, erodes, or otherwise diminishes their constitutional right to keep and bear arms."

At a town hall meeting, Sheriff Denny Peyman of Jackson County, Kentucky told citizens "you are never going to pull a gun from Jackson County."

Smith County, Texas Sheriff, Larry Smith has said, "I will not enforce an unconstitutional law against any citizen in Smith County. It just won't happen."

In Florida, Martin County Sheriff, Bill Snyder said that he will not enforce federal gun laws: "Local law enforcement authorities are not empowered to enforce Federal law," Snyder said.

part 2/2-

"... making the brazen claim that the roots of modern feminism and gay rights can be traced straight back to the Founding Fathers and founding principles of our republic.

But how? The sanctum sanctorum of modern feminism is Roe v. Wade, the discovery of a constitutional right to an abortion. Yet, for every generation of Americans before 1973, abortion was a heinous crime.

And can anyone seriously argue that a barroom brawl with cops by homosexual patrons of Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village in 1969 was but another battle in the long war for liberty begun at Lexington, Concord and Bunker Hill?

How could that be, when the author of the declaration Obama cites, Thomas Jefferson, believed homosexuality should be treated as rape, and George Washington ordered homosexuals drummed out of his army?

What Obama was attempting at the Capitol, with his repeated lifts from Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln, was to portray his own and his party’s egalitarianism as a continuation of the great cause that triumphed at Yorktown and Appomattox.

He is hijacking the American Revolution, claiming an ancestral lineage for his ideology that is utterly fraudulent and bogus.

Feminism, the gay-rights movement and the post-1965 civil-rights movement, with their demand for equality not simply of rights but of rewards, cannot be achieved without trampling on the freedoms for which the patriot fathers fought. And they cannot triumph without creating a permanent, mammoth and redistributionist state more powerful, intrusive and dictatorial than anything George III ever dreamed of.

The freedom of all Americans to compete academically, athletically, artistically and economically must inevitably result in an inequality of incomes, wealth and rewards.

Why? Because all men and women are by nature and nurture unequal. Some are talented, ambitious, industrious, lucky. And in a free society, such men and women will always reap a disproportionate share of fame and fortune.

The only way to equalize rewards is to take from those who have earned and give to those who have not. And that requires the kind of redistributionst regime the Founding Fathers would have risen up against.

As Obama’s America rises, the old republic falls.
