He frantically called his sociopath in crime, his wife, immediately after the crash then tried to convince anyone that would listen to their sob story he didn't know anything or was even involved. Gimme a break.

Driving while taking pain medication.
Leaving scene of accident.
People riding in the back of a pickup truck.
Driving while white.
Most accurate post so far.

I agree. One of the reasons why he looks so old too is his conscience is killing him. Yes, he can make excuses for his action, but the one up there knows the truth. John, may the ghost of those you killed forever haunt you, wherever you may go.
He looked older BEFORE the accident so his conscience is not killing him. Besides, he and his wife are both arrogant, self-righteous liars and sociopaths, therefore they have no conscience.

All you sick people are racist; did you ever think that the driver was riding erratically?
The trial was too high for them to afford and with all you on the jury, he would not have a chance. If he had been anywhere but Hawaii, he wold have a fair trial.
You are telling that he is guilty before he is proven innocent.
Where you all there?
The driver should be put on trial but she is not white.
Oh no! Another racist sociopath! It must be hereditary. Only family would back up a killer.

Wow 10 years seems too long for this guy!

I seem to recall a guy on the windward side who was drunk, speeding, high on drugs killed 2 women and got 18 months in jail.

that equates to 9 months for each MURDER!

2.5 years for each death in this accident.

This is another prime example of the pathetic hawaii legal system. Such Judges (which includes almost 100%), cares little for the dead or injured. If they did, they would impose a sentence that had some guts behind it. A death caused by any driver in Hawaii seems of little concern to the courts. Usually one body, one year in prison, unless no sentence at all. That is supposed to be a deterrent to all the other drivers in this state who seem to think its ok to be impaired and to drive or, to those drivers who have the opinion that they can drive at any speed they wish, screw the posted limits, or the drivers who disregard posted stop signs and red lights.
Its time to start eliminating all judges that refuse to protect the public from all such drivers.

Its time for the public to render justice to such people because the Hawaii legal system refuses to do so. These types of sentences (or no sentence at all), has been the norm in Hawaii for many a year. Impeach Judges that fail to do their job,
which is, least they forget, is to protect the people of Hawaii, not the mindless drivers.

I still can't believe that the state of Hawaii did not pass a law banning people riding in the bed of a pickup truck. It's so unsafe.
Why, not everybody is not stupid enough to drive drunk, or stand up in a moving pickup ANYTHING can be proven unsafe for idiots. Moving a group of muddy farm workers a mile down a country road by truck doesn't seem unreasonable, UNLESS some idiot townie in his BMW thinks that same road is his personal race track.
