how many can bother to participate in a process if disagreement means you get demonized as a nutcase

Why bother? Mufi doesn't care what you have to say unless you are a land developer with the money to back it up (and his campaign). Issues regarding costs, unsightliness, noise, etc will just be thrown upon deaf ears.

Have to agree, disagree and dufi will have you removed from the room and most likely with a police escort. What doesnt this idiot get, Honolulu can not afford a rail system more than ever with him wanting to take more cash out of our pockets by increasing taxes on just about everything but air. He should really think hard about stepping down and just husking coconuts on the beach. cant wait until someone asks him tonight where he will be in 2 years when the city is broke beyond repair. Not in the Mayors Office I bet

Dufi stop being a fool and fix other areas forget about your train to bankruptcy

the real trend in developer community relations --- is to go after some community "leader-types" that are going to agree with you --- then co-op them into your plan --- and then declare the plan has been vetted with the community

everyone else can then be marginalized

case in point --- park-and-ride

the planning of large park-and-ride structures along with roadways that efficiently get people into them would be huge in getting people off the freeway

these structures might not be all that pretty, may require some land from the developer, and might not fit the developers view of a self-contained, "Sustainable", community

now if the developer has already got everyone to buy in on their plan (the plan was vetted with community)--- do you really think, someone from the community could walk in and say, WAKE UP, we need cars off the road and that development is putting more cars on the road so we need a compromise for bigger park-and-ride structures and better roadways into their development for outsiders to get on train?

I think the bottom line is we really want to encourage the community to please come out and participate," Hannemann said yesterday at a news conference. "This is your plan. This is your vision. This is your future."

Wrong pronoun mufi! It is YOUR plan, YOUR vision not OURS. The only one you got right was that it is OUR future DEBT.

It's requested that people in that area voice their comments and concerns only.

The City never said they would do anything. They are only asking people to voice their concerns if they so feel inclined to do so?

The first question I would ask just the same for the sake of conversation and to kill time would be: is our house in the line of the rail system construction? Then maybe also I would ask, can we get a job working on the rail system or will the project go out to only friends of the Mayor?

Why are they asking Waipahu anyway unless Waipahu is in the direct line of construction?

Ewa Beach, here comes the rail system in only 25 years. Just be patient.

Don`t waste your time going to this meeting. King Mufi is going to do what he wants. He has the support of a lot of unions, that will make a lot of money building this thing. The rest of us peons will pay for this thing that won`t be used. Having this meeting is just eye wash. At the meeting he should tell us what his next tax on us will be.

Just a dog and pony show to make the community feel like they are involved. Mufi already has a plan and he doesn't care what the community says unless it will further boost his ego.
Remember the previous rail meetings, they were a one way dialogue, from Mufi to the audience, no questions allowed. And the only opinion that mattered was Mufi's.

Maybe he can get a job with Saturday Night Live and work with "The Rock" in their spoofs about Hawaii, as long as he doesn't try to sing.

With dufi railroading us with a rail road its making more and more sence that all the towns (Waipahu/Aiea/Pearl City/Honolulu etc) all elect their own mayors that way NO KING of Oahu could be on the throne. That is unless dufi is on one in one of the parks he is cleanng up.

I heard the fool on tv last night seeming to think we will believe this will beautify Waipahu and it is a good thing for this community.

Areas around any transit project like this become SLUMS.

Instead of just talking about it, we need to find a way to STOP this insane thing and quickly.

Everybody says it will never happen but the guy is acting like he is deaf to what the public wants and can afford.

California construction companies are already ordering equipment for this project.

that is for existing close-to-slum areas

developers in new developed areas may try to keep their station exclusive (ie. limited parking)

if a regular person brought this up at a meeting --- you would be at best ignored --- at worst, marginalized
