Sounds like it does not matter. The article implied that the chickens were eaten.

One who would release a non-native animal into the wild is not an animal activist. The person is irresponsible. Any non-native introduction can cause harm to native plants and animals.

Didn't people use pellet guns in the old days? People used to just eat the chickens back then. It cuts the noise problem, and someone gets a meal out of it, too.

I think putting the roosters on a hunting season for all hunters to add on their hunting list, who knows it may open new doors. No where is there chicken hunts in the US. BINO

There are thieves, drug users and pushers, the undesireables hanging around the neighborhood, gasoline prices at $3.50 a gallon, and you're complaining about chickens? I like chickens. They wake me up in the morning. I got to get up early in the morning to manage the psych of the traffic problem. Chickens are like fish in an aquarium. They are fun to just sit and watch. Chickens are peace loving animals. They don't complain about you do they?(also have an appetite for any way a chicken comes). Leave'em alone.

The spread of wild chickens was a direct result of 8 to 18 year old boys who like to fight them. During the after school hours you will see many of them with a chicken under his arm. From palolo to pauoa valley. Wehen thy get tired of them they just let them go. If they are injured they let them go to die. Like the smell of a dead rat? try a five lb dead chicken wafteing thru the air. Chickens live up to 14 years and have two to three ten or twelve egg clutches a year you do the math> Not even a professional chicken catcher can breed at this rate.

Chickens are not an endangered species. Chickens are not native to Hawaii. Chickens appear on almost every restaurant menu worldwide. Feral chickens are a nuisance. Just kill them.

The feral chickens were sent by Lono into the neighborhoods to substitute for homeless native Hawaiians to remind everyone they are still here and still need justice.

I spend my life trying to build a nest where I can relax in peace with my family. Who in their right mind thinks it's OK for their roosters to wake me up at 2:00 - 3:00 - 4:00 etc.. in the morning. Not to mention crowing all day long. Is it OK if I park in their driveway blowing my horn all day and night long? What about the rights of the sick and elderly that need their rest? Get your frikin' prioritys stright! and if you want roosters for pets control them! As I right this it's almost 1:00 in the afternoon and I can hear roosters crowing from several directions.

We have been tourists to Hawaii for 17 years. We live in Ohio. We have stayed all over the 4 main Hawaiian islands. We have never been bothered much by the chickens, but in January, we stayed in Princeville, on Kauai. The roosters were horrible there, crowing all day and night. We decided it was our last time to visit Kauai, until something is done about it.

These chickens are roaming all over the place, their numbers are increasing and they are attracted by the FOOLs that insist on FEEDING THEM! The crowing at midnight, 2am, 4am etc.wakes me up all the time and the daily cacophony is driving me crazy. Our neighbors are pitifully insensitive, ignorant and selfish and must be very, very lonely.

I am sure your sweet chickens would not like it if I were screaming in their tiny little ears all day and all night long. When they are peacefully trying to roost at night they would certainly not appreciate that day after day, month after month, year after year.

Good thing that something is being done.

Bad problem for many. Chickens / roosters should not be in urban or suburban areas.
