Man who died in cell is identified. Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Section and officers from the Internal Affairs Division are conducting separate investigations. Sounds to me like a duplication of effort, hence a waste of taspayers money and officers time.

I agree that is very uncompassionate. Wanted to also mention that he was held, not convicted of. Still a tragedy to find an technically innocent man, who died within 24 hours of being put in custody, taken to the hospital and then re-released to police custody, when he obviously needed immediate health care. I still have not forgotten about this. I imagine that neither has his immediate family. Shame on you Hilo. Shame on YOU Hilo police. It is still unclear the actual cause of death, although I spoke to a reporter at a Hilo newspaper about the story regarding the coroner's investigation. I hope you are now resting in peace my friend. I am very saddened still & wish Michael Curl and his family many prayers & great blessings for the future.
