Sleep deprivation can caused temporary psychosis and is well known to be capable of breaking someone psychologically' that is why it is used as an "enhanced interrogation" technique. The bird is a non native invasive species and has a well deserved reputation as a horrible noise maker, not unlike the fighting chickens that destroy peoples' sleep all over the islands. Too bad for the peacock; at the same time it is amazing that they are not wiped out for all the noise they cause as well as damage to roofs, autos, and other property. The charges are ridiculous; the woman should be offered some help to deal with her damaged nerves and these birds should be removed from Hawaii.

Peacocks make more nose than barking dogs. In the movie Midnight Express, peacocks were used to guard a Turkish prison. No wonder she went nuts! This poor lady should be acquitted by a jury of her chicken eating peers.

It's a good thing she didn't live near the airport and get mad about planes disturbing her sleep.

Instead of waterboarding torture they should have used the peacocks at gitmo...

"They're beautiful animals and deserve to be protected," said Carlisle. WHAT! Now this is stup*d! Its not a native bird, am I missing something here. Carlisle needs to get real, there's more important thing then a peacock, but then again its Hawaii. Stup*d is is stup*d does it never changes like Hawaii's lawmakers.:-)

Such cruelty to and animal. How did she get close enough to grab the peacock. Why would she have a bat it a secured area? Who is she afraid of? Animal rights had better step in and protect this beautiful birds since they are really not protected by law since they are no ones pets. They are Gods creation and God watches over. She has no comment now. But she was sure talking the other day.

Ho, da lady must've been really p_ssed off, hah?

But as poster no. one said, these are non-native invasive species and here are causing a continuing nuisance, the the Human Society (Yim guys) not doing jack _hit about it, except for come in now, and try play "Animal Rights" activist, tree-hugger, smoke weed under the monkey pod tree, action.

Oh yeah, this kine, "Going Green," "Save the Planet," "Kiss a Skunk" action is da fad nowadays.

Although Maloney could have been more discreet, my guess is she was unaware as to the letter of this law promulgated by couch environmentalist, grinding Doritos, sipping Coke, while watching "Animal Planet."

Eh, those Birds are a damn nuisance.

Who the ____ let them loose into our environment anyway? How come the State not doing nothing about it? How come the Human Society not going out there and picking them up, like they do da dogs?

They should collect all of them, put them in cages, and stick them across the street where Carlisle live so he can enjoy their beauty and incessant racket, and protect them himself.

I can picture it now! Fed up with aircraft noise, she stands in her front yard with a "Stinger" missile, hoping for a hit.

Having had the "pleasure" of a wild peacock adopt US and hang out in our deodor cedar tree for 5 years, I agree with most of you. Peacocks are HUGE nuisances. If they are non native, they should be banished from the Island! I also know a man who feeds and encourages them here, and he uses bark collars on them and swears they work!

Peacocks are beautiful but yes, they are a pain in the arse... unless the birds are in a controlled area like a zoo or private property, fine but these birds need to be controlled. I agree, humane society will sit on their okole and do nothing until animal rights light a fire... now the whole house is burning for this woman. So sad...

Eh, dis one "peacock" thread, not one mayor mufi thread.

Oh, wait a minute... wild animal, make big body, small brain, plenny "animal rights" fans or "supporters"...

donate cash to their favorite "peacock" organizations, like the Human Society...

Okay, I see the connection.

If 11 of them have been killed in the last two months, there must be few others who came to violently dislike them. And if nothing was done about it, that would seem to make others find it an acceptable means of noise control.

The good ting about peacocks, however, is that when they cry, they drown out all the various one note monotonous dove crowing.

Good Point, Trash Gordon, whatever it is.

Peacocks AND doves (you really mean pidgeons, right, otherwise known as flying rats, you know, the one with the law and ordinance prohibiting members of the public from feeding them in order to starve them to death) are invasive species.

It's stupid "Animal Rights" activits who ignore the over all need to rid our "aina" of these winged-pests.

Seems to me that we want to rid the land of these invasive foreign species, but get all "no can do dat" when regular folks take out the babe ruth bat to do what the Human Society does not have the will to do.

Then they come in an jump on this 'ol lady's case for freaking out at the the "pa KAAAAAWWWWW" noise, over and over, and over, and over, and over again, day in and day out.

Carlisle not doing nothing about it. Mufi not doing nothing about it. Da Human Society not doing nothing about it. Da State not doing nothing about. Da hippies disguised as democrats not doing nothing about it.

This lady did.

Yeah, save the Peacocks. Why stop there?

Save da rats too.

Save da flying rats as well (pidgeons).

While your at it, save the cockroaches too.

If the lady didn't like the noise from the birds, there are legit channels to work through to get the birds out of there. Taking matters into your own hands only results in more trouble, in this case possibly big trouble.
Hopefully this lady landing in hot water for this act will send a message to the killer(s) of the other birds.
Much rather have these birds around than the loud muffler, window shaking speakers of the cars driving past my house.

"Legit Channels" like the Human Society that no do jack? Like da Mufi squad dat no do nothing? Like the rest of the incompetents that run Government? You mean those "legit channels"? Those "legit channels" become illegitimate do nothing channels when they cannot even catch one damn peacock making big noise by the ladies house FOR YEARS.

As far as the bat, when Carlisle wasn't one prosecutor, between the time Marsland got canned and before Carlisle was prosecutor, had one incident downtown Honolulu when this guy was pounding on his girlfriend or wife or something like that. Remember that?

Go ask Carlisle, he can fill you in.

Anyway, Carlisle went to the back trunk of his car and when bust out one golf club, and if I recall correctly, Carlisle when crack that "animal" with one golf club.

Bat on the pest peacock=golf club on animal, only distinction is the lady when use one bat while Carlisle when use his "arrogant sport" golf club.

What bothers me about this incident was the sheer brutality of how she "evicted" the peacock. Its such a shame; I too am very familiar with their incessant screeching, but no animal deserves to suffer that kind of self-serving "justice".

And I just have to mention, for good measure, that these peacocks have resided in the valley for decades now; Maloney moved in 5 years ago. Getting pissed off because of what's in your environment, even though they were they long before you came along? That kind of backwards logic is like swimming in the vast ocean and getting irritated about a shark.

I live near 5 or 6 of them in Hawaii Kai. They are beautiful but they are very loud. Any noise and they go off.

She should get probation. They are wild animals - not a pet.

Next time - shoot it with a pellet gun when no one is looking.
