I would be persuaded of the police's expressions of concern for traffic safety if I saw them enforce speed limits on roads where the speed limit is constant. Rather than trap motorists at places where the speed limit changes and safety isn't the issue. It's a racket.

I do think the size of state and city government is way too big for the size of the population

Here's the problem with your statement (and your attitude): There is no such thing as a speed trap. It is YOUR responsibility as a good driver to see the posted speed limit signs and obey them. If the speed limit is reduced for a stretch of roadway, the you are expected to reduce your speed accordingly... in other words, it's only a speed trap to those idiots with the "Ainokea" mentality... don't speed and you won't be a "victim" of speed traps... DUH!!

Here's an ironic economic issue:
From the AP: "During the fall campaign, Obama mercilessly mocked his Republican opponent, Sen. John McCain, for declaring, "The fundamentals of our economy are strong." Obama's team painted the veteran senator as out of touch and failing to grasp the challenges facing the country.

On Sunday, economic adviser Christina Romer was asked during an appearance on NBC's "Meet the Press" if the fundamentals of the economy were sound. "Of course they are sound," she replied.

"The fundamentals are sound in the sense that the American workers are sound, we have a good capital stock, we have good technology," she said. "We know that -- that temporarily we're in a mess, right? We've seen huge job loss, we've seen very large falls in GDP. So certainly in the short run we're in a -- in a bad situation."

Just a week ago, White House Office of Management and Budget director Peter Orszag declared that "fundamentally, the economy is weak."

Yay!!! I am soooo glad the gov't knew best how to spend our tax dollars and bailed out AIG![end sarcasm] Way to go Obama. I am glad you are getting us out of financial troubles. I am even more happy at the campaign promises of NOT raising tax dollars BEFORE we are out of the "recession"...oops, my bad, our economy is sound. Wow. I hope this is not what we can expect more of...ugh.

The trouble with socialism is that it works fine until the "other" guy's money is gone, right libbies??? Rest assured, liberal lolos, the lolos you elected to represent the rest of us in DC, Obummer and company, are DOING THEIR BEST to bankrupt us, our kids, and our grand children...and so far THEY ARE DOING A BANG UP JOB to do just that! You ain't seen nothing yet (excuse the double negative!)...carbon tax, national sales tax, unionization of everything with a pulse, socialized medical, etc., etc., BECAUSE IT'S GOOD FOR US...RIGHT??? I can hardly wait, but when I see The Messiah Obummer walk on water and my grand kids dancing in the streets when THEIR payment for Obummer's et al's Porkulus payment comes due on their Form 1040 credit card statements of April 15th for years to come, I'll be a TRUE BELIEVER in the wonders of socialism!'Nuff said...

I hope you are not confusing me with a Liberal??? I was being ENTIRELY sarcastic!! I definitely did not vote for this Socialist/Commie President. I saw through his lies and extreme Liberak ideas as soon as he became a serious Presidential candidate. I definitely did not want to vote for McCain, but I was left with choosing the lesser of two evils. I say check out the Constitution Party and let's see if it is a worthy cause to get rid of the two party ridiculousness.( theconstitutionparty.com ) Why didn't Fred come out swinging?!

You do realize Bush has spent more and grew government larger than it's ever been, right? Socialism wasn't started on January 21, 2009. It started back in 2001.

Yes, that and his immigration stance is what doomed him in MY opinion. All the Iraq war nay-sayers, save your breath/or typing....difference of opinions. You have to see that President Obama's spending is WAAAY outa contron for the few days he's been in office. I mean, really, it is outta control. He's totally depending on gov't to bail these corrupt theifs out!! Bush was wrong for allowing the bailout of the housing market and such too!! I say let the chips fall where they may. What do you think of the change in stance on the economy from the Administration? They say it is economically sound too....now. Shameful politics....as usual.....again, on both sides before Liberals start to go crazy!

Like you said, difference of opinion. In normal times I'd agree. Let the chips fall. But these are not normal times.
