The proposed area is far from the adjoining residential area. It shouldn't bother the Pikai St residents at all, nor the area surrounding Pikai St.
It's not even in anyone's backyard to don't understand the NIMBYism that was expresed.

Do we have a human park?

Wonder if the homeless can go to the dog parks?

Parks Director Lestor Chang states that the dog park, "would be partially funded by the city." Okay, so how much of the taxpayers money is going into this project? Inquiring minds want to know. Is this the best time for the City to be spending limited resources on such a venture? I think not.

Oh but wait! Mufi says, "Hey, if we come up short, I can always increase taxes nd fee's again."

How is it that at a time when libraries and post offices are threatened with closure there is enough money around to fund this special interest project for animal owners? This signals the influence of the have vs. the have nots, when the dogs of the former merit services at the expense of the latter. In addition, while homeless human beings are being ousted from parks, dogs are being catered to and provided their own playgrounds.

Yet one more egregious example of a business hustling to use public funds to do "good" for the "community" just like the sitting members of the North Shore Board themselves. I am so sick of this type of b.s.

I have nothing against dogs and people who have dogs. However, Hawaii is having budget problems - property taxes were raised, parking fees were raised, etc. etc. The State is laying off people and cutting programs. Private sector is experiencing layoffs and furloughs.

Last week, it was reported that the City is building a park in Ewa Beach. Now, I read that the City is funding part of a Dog Park at a State Park. Realize that there is an initial cost, then maintenance costs, then liability costs, etc.

What is the City doing? Where are their priorities?

Its insane and it seems like domesticated animals are more important then humans - the dog situation on Oahu is out of control and getting worse and nobody seems to pay attention that their is a leash law as well. Once our educational system is fixed, the homeless problem is addressed and enviromental issues are dealt with then we can maybe look at such special issue matters as this. Where's our priorities! Not to mention that Hawaii has the highest extinction rate in the world of native species. Its just simply CRAZY!!!

It will be a great place for a lot of mothers out there to take a walk with their dogs.

It's really not that crazy at all, it's just that you are some kind of doof.
To be fair, we should build a park for people like you too.

To attack someone rather than debate their point proves the weakness of one's position. The dog population has exploded and these animals cause many problems in residential neighborhoods with their constant barking, threats to health and safety (feces and attacks), and polluting of the landfills. That people will focus their time, money, and energy to accommodate canines while cutting back on libraries, post offices, school texts, general welfare, health care for human beings does seem odd ... if not perverse. I have neighbors who consider their dogs as human beings and allow them to bark and destroy the peace of the area. They indulge them and speak to them as if they were people; their reward ... having to follow the dogs around and handle their excrement. The suggestion has been made that there are better and higher uses of our time and energy than being valets to dogs. Building dog parks rather than services and facilities for human beings is wrong.

I want some space downtown to build a Weasel Park.

With the City and State offices I figure the park could be full all the time.
