I predict that no solution is possible to resolve this school furlough crisis. There are too many hypocritical people not willing to compromise and negotiate for the good of the community, too many union bosses each having his own agenda.

But the teachers are not taking any pay cuts, they are simply taking time off. When they got big pay raises did they work longer hours? No. So why are they taking time off instead of a pay cut. 3 day weekends instead of a pay cut. The teachers invented furlough fridays so they could impact parents and students enough that everyone would say all right all ready raise my taxes give the teachers more pay. But then the HGEA and UPW will say the same thing so pretty soon no one takes any cuts except the tax payer.

Again..furloughs? Its time to fire people. Doe : fire all your do nothing bureaucrats(50%) of the budget, Go to community based schooling. The vast sums of money in the Doe will then go the classroom and keiki. More taxes and money to support a totally dis-functional Educational system is ludicrous!! We should all sign a petition to vote on the balanced state budget including dissolution of the DOE and BOE. Not more taxes and more gov't less and responsible honest Gov't!

Yes, this is so true. Teachers are not taking a pay cut, they are taking 3 day weekends at the expense of the students. TAKE THE STRAIGHT PAY CUT and get back to school.

We have had ice free summers numerous times over the longer Earth climate cycles the pro warming goons spout off about.

There was NO Industry,Autos and there were Zilch humans in those cycles ;)
