"But HPD shut down the investigation after the FBI served search warrants at the homes of a number of Honolulu police officers on March 31, 2005, including the homes of three officers charged in connection with the gambling operation, said Thomas Muehleck, assistant U.S. attorney."

Typical of local police "enforcement" attitude when ever an independent investigation takes hold, this time from the FBI. It just shows how corrupt our "serve and protect" police force are.

Remember when HPD officers were getting close to building a criminal case against the former City Mayor Jeremy Harris? HPD chief stopped that investigation too, taxpayers should be asking the question why, because this clown may be running as a Con Con delegate!

The FBI and IRS should go after bigger fish like the DOE and the $400,000,000.00 of taxpayers money gone "missing" each year for over 10 years and counting. I'm sure there are some very interesting "people" connected with this massive fraud, waste and abuse.

Aloha, John! I don't know what the SB Topix Nazis are doing, but my post to you just now did not show up!

You might find this article most interesting. It deals with the depth of Hawaii's police corruption, going back to Ariyoshi/Mehau days! The corruption is beyond description.

I can only hope that the citizens of Oahu don't judge other officers by the actions of a few. As in any basket, there will be a few rotten apples.

that thing was so huge every weekend that there is no way anyone driving by the area could miss seeing it from the road --- it was like Sunset on Beach or the Farm Fair --- hundreds if not thousands of people would come out every weekend

for law abiding citizens --- the easy conclusion to reach was that HPD didn't have resources or couldn't be bothered with stopping things

then to find out that HPD guys were running it --- sheez, that's pretty third world

and what a disgrace to all those that try to uphold and enforce the laws --- terrible, for law enforcement to have their brothers treat our country like it is a pathetic thirld world joke

Typical head-in-the-sand apologist. The more appropriate analogy would be "tip of the iceberg."

HPD does not answer 911 calls because the are too "busy" with their gambling games.

Conspiracy is the word! Here we have 2 former patrol officers, another from HPD's gambling detail who were assisted by an FBI secretary who leaked information that helped drug traffickers. Sure sounds like Chinatown!

you don't know everything, neither should you believe what the media says. Not every officer in this is crooked. every one of them is related to each other somehow, except one.
sometimes the innocent have to be the scapegoat of another who got away.........

It is sad to see these officers cross the line. They all will be serving time for their poor judgement. "Joe Public" should also know that these officers had made many arrests through the years for illegal gambling and cock fighting. However, the revolving door and weak laws that your Democratic Legislators have made frustrate the hell out of police officers. I am not condoning what these officers have done. I know they did not start out their HPD careers with the intention to become criminals.

yep! what to do about the revolving door, all this illegal gambling, cock fights and drug deals, these ring leaders just get a slap on the wrist and they're back at it again next weekend!
What are the cops to do? What is the legislators doing about this???you people who sit in high places, getting paid bundles are doing NOTHING!
this S**T Continues day in day out! the dirty cops know who they are, and they too should pay.
these cock fighting families on the north shore and elsewhere know how the system operates that's why they're still in practice. Something's got to be done about this!
