Elaine: You're right, but there is now a $80. billion supplement bill (for Iraq and Afghanistan) to be signed on Obama's desk. It will never end.

I think that I was taken out of context.
Not only do I not want to continue paying a significant chunk of my income to pay for healthcare for those that choose not to work or improve themselves, I do not want someone else telling me what to eat, drink, or who to marry.
I want government to go back to the basics and give me back my freedom of choice. If I choose to partake of the sinful fruit and do not want to live to be 120, that should be my prerogative as long as it does not affect anyone else. If it causes higher medical costs when I get older, why would you care if you aren't paying for it. That there is the key to this entire discussion. If someone else is paying for the ride, they get to dictate how you get there and what you get to do on the way. That is why I drive a car to work. I leave when I want, I come home when I want. I stop where I want. I listen to whatever pleases me as loud as I want.

Typical "me, Me ME!!!" mentality. The world doesn't revolve around you.

We no longer live in a rural society where your neighbor is miles down the road from you and you can get away with alot of crap without bothering anyone.

What happens when your choices infringe on the freedoms of others? Is your choice more important than theirs? Who decides?

Govt has gotten involved because our society continues to erode. People no longer respect each other.

So, in order to force another to "respect" you, it is okay for Government to take away our freedoms? Seems like the lowest common denominator is ruling the day. Eventually, those of us who relish our freedoms shall put down those who wish to take them away, again.
