What ward are you in? It seems that some areas get attention while others are over-looked. Avant, Ward 5, is worthless. How that guy ever got elected is beyond me. I lived in 5 for a while, but have since moved to the North End (Ward 1) and I can definitely see that #1 is one that gets a lot done.
I live in Ward 4 which is the downtown area including the plaza, the old high school, norton homes and the VanHyning area.
I live right smack in the middle of the VanHyning area which is unfortunately known as the 'drug' zone.
A group of homeowners & tenants was formed before the election in September which we attend the city meetings weekly in an effort to clean up this neighborhood and, the city. What we've done to date has produced immediate results to the neighborhood.
We still have work to do because some of the landlords just don't care and, some of the traffickers aren't real smart in hanging around but, knowing the system, the players and a group of concerned residents is what makes the changes possible... Without the latter the changes wouldn't happened!
I'm using this opportuniy to Thank a few of the regular group members; Brenda, Mitch, Neighbor Rob, Auggie, Janis, Mark, Paul and Kim for your support!
As for your Ward 1, Paul Suboticki is your Council Member. He regularly speaks out at the meetings for his residents and seems to be in touch with them as well, which I can't say for some of the others!
Each of the 6 Wards in the City have their own needs like mine that are separate from the others but, at the same time they each have the same basic municipal needs as the others.
In one meeting anyone can tell which Council Member really works to meet their residents separate needs as well as his municipal needs.
It's worth the effort to attend and to participate in the system.

PPG Our largest Potential Cycloaliphatic Epoxy Resin client
We wish our goods can be approved by PPG. Chemical companies try to improve environment protection together. Step by step, if you can not pay too much goods from chemicals....

When will PPG ever cleanup the environmental mess they made in Barberton for all those years at their chemical plants? PPG is not a GREEN company. people in Barberton are getting sick and dying all the time from their environmental mess.
That is absolutely not true. I worked there for 12 years and no one was getting sick. Yes, there is still environmental work to but PPG follows all environmental rules in The United States and overseas to the letter. For plants oversea the rules is the US EPA rules or the foreign country which ever is stricter. It is true the Barberton plant was very old and was built when there few environmental rules. But over time all that was updated to meet modern rules.
