Flood projects trudge to reality

A much smaller project on the river though Eugene Field Park in Chicago has been on the drawing board for years! It seems as if every year the funding fails to come though.
This is a densely populated area and deserves some consideration too.

I guess people who live in such areas shouldn't store their books in the basement.

Glad to see the work and planning and talking going on.
It's pretty scary when the river gets so high.
(Can't we bottle some of this water and send it to Atlanta? lol JUST KIDDING!)

Some areas are just too expensive to protect...especially with global warming. We have never solved the problem along the Mississipi and diverted water and dams don't stop mother Nature. I sometimes wonder of the logic of rebuilding all of New Orleans when we know how treacherous the waters are and how little space we have to store the water. It is below ground...and it is getting worse.
Additionally, sometimes it just causes the water to back up elsewhere, where others live.
